i fucking love this song, but didn't think it'd go over in that bar. it's kinda douchey

jaxon, Saturday, 1 August 2009 00:01 (sixteen years ago)

john q. lazzarus (donna rouge), Saturday, 1 August 2009 04:21 (sixteen years ago)

jaxon, Saturday, 1 August 2009 17:24 (sixteen years ago)

we did not :/ i always feel kind of awkward going up to DJs when they're busy. are you playing again this month?

john q. lazzarus (donna rouge), Saturday, 1 August 2009 18:15 (sixteen years ago)

we don't have any planned at the moment, but add yourself to our facebook group so we can invite you to our next party.

my god, ray mang edit of "let's go to brasilia"...

dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Sunday, 2 August 2009 10:34 (sixteen years ago)

^^^ the best thing on that 'le disco' comp imo

psychgawsple, Monday, 3 August 2009 02:32 (sixteen years ago)

the whole comp is awesome. i just listened to it only once, but i can say there's no dud in that bunch.

dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Monday, 3 August 2009 03:10 (sixteen years ago)

seriously, it's like a whos-who of producers, and nobody really disappoints

space cowboy (san frandisco), Monday, 3 August 2009 18:38 (sixteen years ago)

they say that the original music on tele music remixed haven't been released yet. so how come there's an arpadys song in there (monkey star)?

dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Saturday, 8 August 2009 09:03 (sixteen years ago)

Holy crap... the Montée album. I think Lindstrom has actually just gone all out and signed an actual 80s soft rock band. I only gave it a cursory listen at low volume because I was a bit embarassed about my housemates overhearing it.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 11 August 2009 22:45 (sixteen years ago)

since ive started listening to this shit slightly embarrassing has become my bread and butter

max, Tuesday, 11 August 2009 22:56 (sixteen years ago)

Is "Bones" with the Way of the Ancients remix out on digital yet?

plazzTT, Wednesday, 12 August 2009 13:02 (sixteen years ago)

try the hype machine....

my opinionation (Hamildan), Wednesday, 12 August 2009 14:14 (sixteen years ago)

think 20JFG has an extremely loud mp3 of "Bones" posted. which will be fine, since playing out a picture disc will sound fairly shitty.

beta blog, Wednesday, 12 August 2009 14:23 (sixteen years ago)

haha the montee album is a trip!! not sure ill listen to it more than a couple times but im glad someone is still making music like this

max, Wednesday, 12 August 2009 15:58 (sixteen years ago)

i think 1 of the mungolian jet set dudes has something to do w/ that montee album

just sayin, Wednesday, 12 August 2009 16:00 (sixteen years ago)

ya ya, and funky bass get's a rework by the idjut boys. i know arpadys had a lot to do with the library tele music comes from, but the whole unreleased thing seems inaccurate if only for the arpadys tracks

space cowboy (san frandisco), Thursday, 13 August 2009 18:06 (sixteen years ago)

definitely among the contenders for my favorite mix this year... Vidal Benjamin - Balearic Nightmare

all vintage, oddball balearic stuff in a variety of languages with irresistibly catchy hooks. the lack of a track listing for this one is killing me, especially b/c of the one at about 57:08 with the chorus that ends in "de los dos!" that i totally recognize and instantly sang along to and likely already have an mp3 of but cannot for the life of me pin down wtf it actually is!

psychgawsple, Monday, 17 August 2009 07:36 (sixteen years ago)

what other linda difranco should i seek out besides tv scene and my boss, which i already have?

max, Monday, 17 August 2009 14:52 (sixteen years ago)

track around 33min in that vidal benjamin mix: 1ere classe - "la fille qui rit"

dunno any of the rest of it

The Collected Works of Fun Fun (donna rouge), Monday, 17 August 2009 15:14 (sixteen years ago)

was kinda confused and thinking that max was looking for ani difranco rec.s and was wondering when she became considered balearic

the 'rise of the heart' album has both of her singles and some other tunes produced by don was. i've been thinking about shelling out the $$ for a copy but haven't heard anything besides the singles and a questionable "look of love" cover

psychgawsple, Monday, 17 August 2009 20:23 (sixteen years ago)

thanx for the nice comments about balearic nightmare... psychgawsple, the track you're looking for is Guy Cuevas, Obsession (FK mix)...

vidalb, Saturday, 22 August 2009 22:05 (sixteen years ago)

obsession is my all time i wish i had track. fuck paying 100$ for a 12". wish that funky nassau comp came out on vinyl.

jaxon, Sunday, 23 August 2009 21:25 (sixteen years ago)

butthurt (deej), Monday, 24 August 2009 01:56 (sixteen years ago)

welcome to ilx vidalb! your mix is the shit! i had actually already figured out about the guy cuevas track (thx to sanfrandisco) and was kicking myself because it's my favorite track on funky nassau and i couldn't connect the dots. i seriously need to step it up with my trainspotting game

i would totally buy that di franco lp if i had the $$ too man, times is tight

psychgawsple, Monday, 24 August 2009 04:34 (sixteen years ago)

it's kinda surprising but i'm really into this new coyote full-length- http://www.discogs.com/Coyote-Harlyn-Bay/release/1868893- not too different from the new sorcerer record but full of '90s basslines and chillout-tent vibes. and they even ease up on the cheesy vocal samples a bit

psychgawsple, Thursday, 27 August 2009 21:28 (sixteen years ago)

If you like the Vidal's mix you might like the one we just put up yesterday by Chris over at http://plaidmusic.blogspot.com/

The June mix from Hamburg's RSS seems to straddle a few ILM threads but thought I'd post it here. There's a link to download it from their myspace site and the tracklisting looks like this:

02 Outlines - Listen to the Drums (Jazzanova Remix / Dixon Edit)
(Sonar Kollektiv)
03 Weird Tapes - The Heavens (self)
04 Yves Simon - Au Pays Des Merveilles De Juliet (Sweetlight
Unreleased Edit) (self)
05 Doves - Kingdom of Rust (Prins Thomas Diskomiks) (Heavenly)
06 Quiet Village - Can't Be Beat (Whatever We Want Records/ !K7)
07 Rubber Room - Cockroach (Eskimo Recordings)
08 Osborne - Air Pistol (Black Market Records)
09 The Rapture - Sister Savior (DFA Dub) (DFA)
10 Mark E - Fighter (Sonar Kollektiv)
11 Move D - Untitled (Workshop)
12 Sevensol & Bender - Ait (Kann Records)
13 House of House - Rushing To Paradise (Walkin These Streets)
(Whatever We Want Records)

i duno if this is old news or what but i recently came across this huuuuge list that looks like an extension of that top 25 balearic tracks thing djhistory did a few years ago... http://es-es.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=93738961786&ref=mf&_fb_noscript=1

Russ Abbot - Atmosphere (Spirit, 1984)

I recommend this Balearic classic off that list to any Americans who have never had the luck to hear it.

CosMc (Raw Patrick), Monday, 7 September 2009 21:18 (sixteen years ago)

have you guys heard the new track from norwegians Moland & French called "We can beat the Congo if we Beat our Bongos"? might be produced by one of the guys from Studio. total kate bait.

The Chateau Flight Remix of Spectral Empire is nice and cosmic-y at 104bpm...

http://www.myspace.com/spectralempire

And the Hatchback Remix of They Came From The Stars I Saw Them's THE UNSTOPPABLE KITE totally kills...

http://www.myspace.com/theycamefromthestarsisawthem

Both plugs for my label but, you know, both deserve a wide audience.

brotherlovesdub, Wednesday, 9 September 2009 15:50 (sixteen years ago)

the upcoming Kreidler release has a track called (you guessed it) "Balearic" that is a nice little tribute to this style.

dog latin, Wednesday, 9 September 2009 15:58 (sixteen years ago)

ha. guess i wasn't the only one making that joke above :-/
