Voted! I feel like my ballots are a bit haphazard but they probably always are. Also, poll-runners, I snuck in one tiny write-in, feel free to ignore if you have to, nobody else will vote for it anyway I just wanted to include it.

my tracks list is a mixed bag of recent and long-since-beloved but the album list was a sophie's choice once i got it down to 40. i doubt i'd deliver the same ballot tomorrow.

I hesitate to look back at mine, my #1 album pick was essentially random

yeah that's why i close my year-end list the minute i publish it on my personal blog lol. tho still, my ilx ballot was a little different, due to a smidge of strategic voting and one or two things i forgot to nom

january is a big discovery period for me, i'd just prefer it to be all fun and not worry too much about where these new-to-me songs would fall on a list

what's the deal with stuff like reissues/rarities comps/etc on the albums poll? were they allowed or not?

bc i see some that look to be old stuff that has been rereleased or released for the first time, but no nominated the pj harvey b-sides/demos/rarities comp?

From someone who is usually a procrastinator, the voting always ends Midnight on Friday Night. But even that usually is extended a few hours after that as seandalai is usually sleeping when it's that late in San Francisco.

When y'all were talking about the Rachika Nayar album I was not expecting an instrumental power ambient album with synths and guitars with infinite reverb. What's the backstory there, how did she get popular? It reminds me Mogwai or Godspeed without drums.

Also I'm not the indie rock guy here but I'm surprised that albums by Dear Nora and Second Grade weren't on the noms list.

The Rachika Nayar is a massive, immersive listen. Sequenced to take you on a complete journey, and a great comedown album. Post-rock with synths isn't too bad a descriptor, actually!

The title track of the Nayar album is a monster.

Just listened to the Water Gun Sky Attack track. Too late now but that would definitely have filled the 'Scott Walker being fed into a blender' shaped hole in my voting form.
