Guitars... what you've got / what you want

My understanding was that microphony is a physical issue with the pickup coils (and can be fixed by re-wax potting the pickup) - since I'd have to mail it to someone anyway for re-potting and wait for it to get done and come back I figured it wasn't worth the effort. Any pickup swap would have worked but the Kinmans sound good.

xp True that can be the case, but it's basically any acoustic vibration which makes the coils move and hence generates a signal responding to the sound. Potting reduces the coil's ability to move, but sometimes it can be that the pickup and pickguard are rubbing against each other, or the pickup cover is slightly loose. On Jaguars the claws are notorious for vibrating and that makes pickups microphonic too.
Kinmans are built so differently to a JM single coil that it's very likely they'd be unaffected by whatever is goosing the existing pickup. Apparently they sound great too, and even a shielded JM is a sea of noise so it's a good choice regardless!

Love that Elliot Easton SG, looks a lot like the Rosetta Tharpe SG which I always coveted (except that one has three pickups).

Brittany Howard has a great Inverness Green SG Custom (I think I saw an interview where she said Gibson gave it to her after she appeared on SNL or the Tonight Show or something).

Kind of sucks that they went with the smaller headstock than the big CBS headstock though

i find that incredibly frustrating, big headstock is absolutely right on those blingy mid-60s offsets

Seconded. I've never seen a big headstock Fender that wouldn't look better with a regular headstock.

Did jazzmaster headstocks ever change size? I thought they always maintained a size somewhere between the og strat abd cbs strat sizes?

I really like the color scheme of the Van Leeuwen Jazzmaster, btw, but along with the embiggened headstock I'm also not a fan of block inlays on, well, all Fenders.

Never heard of the Leslee system, like a built in stereo Univibe where it alternates between the neck and bridge pickups while you play.

Didn't Rosetta Tharpe play a Flying V? Or Explorer or SG. Maybe I am misremembering. I have a vague memory of someone from that era with a pointy guitar.
