That sucks about the Lennox album.

Malevolent Arugula (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 29 September 2022 17:21 (three years ago)

More acts should do what Trent Reznor did and just leave new songs on thumb drives in public bathrooms.

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 29 September 2022 17:32 (three years ago)

If you use a streaming service that brings to your attention new releases by artists you've listened to before (as Spotify does), then a steady drip of content is also going to bring the artist to the top of your "feed" and more occasions, resulting in a greater likelihood of you remembering to listen.

longer rollouts make sense in a world where people are constantly moving onto the next thing. the longer the rollout, the longer the conversation lasts.

it reminds me of streaming television switching away from the binge model

comedy khadafi (voodoo chili), Thursday, 29 September 2022 21:06 (three years ago)

it’s funny because in the cd era, album rollout would routinely take months, and now we’re back baby

this is exactly it. i think beyonce moving back to the traditional model (more or less) is a big tip off in terms of the industry’s POV on this

Isn't that an attempt to stop people constantly switching between streaming platforms? If you release episodes over more than five weeks, users will have to keep their subscription for more than a month, rather than bingeing it all in a month then switching over to another platform.

The Ghost Club, Thursday, 29 September 2022 23:01 (three years ago)

beyonce's was pretty compact compared to all these other examples though - announced two months before release, lead single a month before release, that's it

ufo, Thursday, 29 September 2022 23:05 (three years ago)

yeah but still there seemed to be an expectation that it would just drop suddenly whenever but they clearly went a different route if not to the extent as some of these others

i think netflix et al saw the same thing about shows dropping all at once and then falling out of the cultural conversation a very short time later

I like how she lets the audience handle the offending lyric.

got a ticket for their show here in Toronto, nosebleeds for $60, which is just about how much i'm willing to pay to see them

Murgatroid, Friday, 11 November 2022 20:25 (three years ago)

Three times in the last week I thought "maybe I will try to get tickets to see such and such," and all three times I learned that the show already happened, including Paramore's.

Josh in Chicago, Friday, 11 November 2022 20:35 (three years ago)

I forgot that tickets went on sale today! The cheapest nosebleeds left in DC are $125 plus fees, and to be honest that's just not worth it to me. Oh well.

peace, man, Saturday, 12 November 2022 00:50 (three years ago)

8 years ago - arguably at the height of their popularity, co-headlining with Fall Out Boy - the cost of my ticket, fees included, was half of that. Insane

Vinnie, Saturday, 12 November 2022 01:25 (three years ago)

And that was also in the DC area, just so we're comparing apples

Vinnie, Saturday, 12 November 2022 01:26 (three years ago)

Completely awesome performance of "This Is Why" on of all things The Tonight Show.

Huh. There's some pretty wild stuff going on in that song.

Albums covers Music Videos that depict the artists hanging out with their clones

Rockin tune

abcfsk, Thursday, 8 December 2022 18:26 (three years ago)

Love it. These songs compliment each other very well and I can't wait to hear them in the context of the full record.

peace, man, Thursday, 8 December 2022 18:30 (three years ago)

Just noticed how much she looks like British actress Amelia Bullmore. Anyway, amazing song, never given Paramore a second thought before now but I love both of these new songs.

nate woolls, Thursday, 8 December 2022 21:29 (three years ago)

this album's gonna rule

ufo, Thursday, 8 December 2022 21:58 (three years ago)

I like it.

Malevolent Arugula (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 8 December 2022 21:58 (three years ago)

The subtle little Whammy-pedal bend by Taylor in the chorus rules.

peace, man, Friday, 9 December 2022 02:50 (three years ago)

Really like this one too. Feels like they're kind of stitching together all of the stuff they do well, the pop and the emo and the postpunk.

sounds like a great BNE evolution - really appreciate how they kept it at a tight 3 minutes.

love this, very much pro paramore going post-punk

Roz, Friday, 13 January 2023 06:45 (three years ago)

For each song in the rollout, my initial reaction has been "I don't know. Am I on board with this? Does this do it for me?" And then I listen to it 2 or 3 more times before my mind latches onto it and after that, I listen to it for the rest of the day.

peace, man, Friday, 13 January 2023 12:28 (three years ago)

yeah not sure about this but I didn't like after laughter at first either so I assume I'll love it soon

your original display name is still visible (Left), Friday, 13 January 2023 12:54 (three years ago)

There’s a real cohesion in sound when you listen to all three songs in a row - feels like they’ve been listening to a lot of early 00s dance/post-punk

Hayley mentioned Dry Cleaning and Yard Act as inspirations for the latest track, which makes sense
