Had I heard that Holy Ghost song on it's own I would have forgotten about it before it even got to the chorus, but now I'm singing it in shower, all because of seeing that video first.

Kommen sie bitte und listen to Kraftwerk (EDB), Wednesday, 29 July 2009 00:33 (sixteen years ago)

❊❁❄❆❇❃✴❈plaxico❈✴❃❇❆❄❁❊ (I know, right?), Friday, 31 July 2009 15:07 (sixteen years ago)

Supposedly. And one of the tracks has lead vocals from whatsisface from the Doobie Brothers.

I'm really feeling the new Shit Robot including the remixes. Up there with "Rushing to Paradise" as contenders for the piano jam of the year.

dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Saturday, 1 August 2009 08:24 (sixteen years ago)

Absolutely loving that Justin Miller DFA mix posted upthread.

― Mr. Snrub, Thursday, 18 June 2009 02:00 (1 month ago) Permalink

If I don't find out the name of the song being played at 56:00 - 58:40 of that Justin Miller DFA mix, then I will be totally depressed forever. HELP!

― Mr. Snrub, Wednesday, 24 June 2009 03:42 (1 month ago) Permalink

Found it! It is called "Simple Things (Work It Out) (Serge Santiago Remix)" by Shit Robot and it will be released on July 14th. Awesome!

― Mr. Snrub, Wednesday, 24 June 2009 05:27 (1 month ago)

^^^ SINGLE OF THE FUCKING YEAR!!!

Mr. Snrub, Saturday, 1 August 2009 17:09 (sixteen years ago)

dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Saturday, 1 August 2009 23:04 (sixteen years ago)

holy ghost track is prolly gonna be a year ender for me

❊❁❄❆❇❃✴❈plaxico❈✴❃❇❆❄❁❊ (I know, right?), Thursday, 13 August 2009 15:06 (sixteen years ago)

even though it reminds me of as much stuff i'm eh about as enthused about

❊❁❄❆❇❃✴❈plaxico❈✴❃❇❆❄❁❊ (I know, right?), Thursday, 13 August 2009 15:06 (sixteen years ago)

imo the classixx remix of the holy ghost track is better than the orig--i think it sort of achieves what (i think) hg were trying to get at

max, Thursday, 13 August 2009 15:31 (sixteen years ago)

The second, yearning "I will come back!" in the chorus certainly works better in the classixx mix. Can't say either version has me bowled over, but that video generates a lot of goodwill.

Daniel_Rf, Thursday, 13 August 2009 15:53 (sixteen years ago)

nah I still think its great, its just that its really muted I guess

❊❁❄❆❇❃✴❈plaxico❈✴❃❇❆❄❁❊ (I know, right?), Thursday, 13 August 2009 16:03 (sixteen years ago)

I have an mp3 of that remix and it just makes me want to hear the orig tbh

❊❁❄❆❇❃✴❈plaxico❈✴❃❇❆❄❁❊ (I know, right?), Thursday, 13 August 2009 16:03 (sixteen years ago)

It pains me to say this but I kind of can't stand the James Curd single. It's just so dorky! Maybe it'll grow on me, I kind of see what it's getting at, but it leaves me totally cold.

More Butty In Your Pants (Telephone thing), Thursday, 13 August 2009 22:13 (sixteen years ago)

haha i love it probably because it's so dorky

badpowderfinger (electricsound), Thursday, 13 August 2009 22:25 (sixteen years ago)

The James Curd single is the one with that awkward "rap," yes?

Daniel, Esq., Thursday, 13 August 2009 22:28 (sixteen years ago)

Maybe no quote-marks needed. It is kind of dorky. Can't decide if it's kind of charming, too.

Daniel, Esq., Thursday, 13 August 2009 22:29 (sixteen years ago)

it's totally awesome is what it is. It also a thing or two to this song...

otm!

I even threw this on a techno/house mix I recently made, just cause it has that (cheesy) charm.

I can't get past the "ground control to major tom, I see you up there, you're getting it on" line. The idea of watching astronauts have sex just doesn't mesh with me.

Well, I wrote some stuff and Kenny Loggins heard it, so, y'know... (EDB), Thursday, 13 August 2009 23:49 (sixteen years ago)

Just downloaded the Canyons 12"- I do like this, very much so.

More Butty In Your Pants (Telephone thing), Friday, 14 August 2009 00:04 (sixteen years ago)

Well, maybe not "Dancing on Silk," but "Fire Eyes" is great.

More Butty In Your Pants (Telephone thing), Friday, 14 August 2009 00:04 (sixteen years ago)

the world needs more rapping dorks imo, especially if they've got italo beats

psychgawsple, Friday, 14 August 2009 01:30 (sixteen years ago)

i like the walter jones & still going singles a lot more than the holy ghost one, which is just ok to me (the video made me like it more than any remix)

butthurt (deej), Friday, 14 August 2009 02:41 (sixteen years ago)

"Spaghetti Circus" leaked and it OWWWWWWWWWWWWWNS

"I have seen bloodstains on the Pac Man joystick" (jamescobo), Friday, 14 August 2009 05:36 (sixteen years ago)

also like 'spaghetti circus' & the walter jones one more than any juan maclean singles from this year

butthurt (deej), Friday, 14 August 2009 05:38 (sixteen years ago)

a touch late to the party obviously, but i just got some new and old DFA stuff from their webstore and that walter jones one is superb, a real standout. anyone who's had a listen to online shop samples and dismissed it should think again. perfect modern take on that post-disco boogie sound.

If you use Firefox it's fairly simple to "download" songs direct from Hypem by playing the track and then copying it from your cache.

groovypanda, Wednesday, 19 August 2009 09:14 (sixteen years ago)

also hype machine will link you to the blog where you can download it.

Holy Ghost! will release their debut early 2010

http://www.dazeddigital.com/article/4377/1/HolyGhostRecommends

Their new single 'I Will Come Back' as remixed by Classixx and DJ Mehdi is out now, whilst their debut album will be released early next year.

djmartian, Wednesday, 19 August 2009 18:49 (sixteen years ago)

really must pick up that holy ghost I THINK I HAVE MENTIONED THAT I LIKE IT A LOT even though I can see why a lot of people would think its nothing special, can't wait for that album.

❊❁❄❆❇❃✴❈plaxico❈✴❃❇❆❄❁❊ (I know, right?), Wednesday, 19 August 2009 18:51 (sixteen years ago)

maybe i'll change my mind since i've only heard a few tracks on myspace & blogs, but it doesn't sound like anything special

Ømår Littel (Jordan), Wednesday, 19 August 2009 18:53 (sixteen years ago)

spaghetti circus is good but untitled love is even radder

max, Wednesday, 19 August 2009 21:12 (sixteen years ago)

maybe I just overdosed on the DFA aesthetic around the time of sound of silver, or is a lot of awesome stuff coming from them lately?

❊❁❄❆❇❃✴❈plaxico❈✴❃❇❆❄❁❊ (I know, right?), Wednesday, 19 August 2009 21:31 (sixteen years ago)

i wish more DFA bands sounded like 'sound of silver'

Ømår Littel (Jordan), Wednesday, 19 August 2009 21:33 (sixteen years ago)
