ILM's 2010s Tracks & Albums Decade Poll / VOTING THREAD

I'm not sure if anyone else does this but in my head there are songs which are "singles" even though they ended up on albums I love, and songs which are "album tracks" even though they ended up being singles, and I will always go for the former over the latter in a tracks poll - hence voting for "Call Me Maybe" over "Run Away With Me" or etc.

I don't know if I naturally make a mental distinction like that, but if I've heard the song prior to the album, and especially if I've seen the video, the song stands out in a way it doesn't if I hear it on the album first. Different context, for sure

I have noticed my favorite songs on albums often tend to be ones picked as singles anyway, and I'm not if that's a function of the extra exposure singles get or the elevated status making me pay more attention or simply catchiness or some other standout quality that me and the artist agree on

Balloon is easily the best and freshest of those winners tbf imo. Didn't vote for it but expecting it to do very well

Balloon is good but it wears itself out very quickly.

Often if I hear an album first I end up loving a particular song, and then am mystified when a different song is picked as a single and everyone likes it.

Hi everyone!

So I’m at 65% of the tracks images, I’ll have them complete by Monday no problem…
However, I still need to do the text / bbcode and search for blurbs for each one and that takes more time than I’ll have from Mo-We because it’s a bit of a hectic week for me and I don’t want to have long spans of not posting, I usually like posting every 8/10 mins so I can post results in a spam of 3 hours every day.

There’s 3 options:

1. I start posting on Tuesday. Finish the top 20 on Saturday instead of Friday.

2. I start posting on Monday without blurbs, maybe I can start adding them for 80-01.

3. I start posting Monday 22nd.

I vote for 1 or 2 (but defer to you). Thanks for your work on this, Moka!

Vote 2! No to Saturday final day. Will accept hybrid option where we get 25 a day from Tuesday

If I were to take on a big task like this I wouldn’t want to start until I’m good and ready, so take your time I say. 1: only if you can make it, 2: no, 3: why not? this is about a whole decade - what’s another week?

when tt and i ran the 00's, tt did the images but i did all the bbcode, text, blurb etc stuff, ufo is shirking imo lol

tbf i got around this by not doing blurbs, and demanding the thread's live reactions to suffice

to be clear i originally offered to do that part too (& am still happy to do whatever's necessary there)
