Around how many does an average EOY poll get?

the 2021 poll received 77 tracks ballots and 86 albums ballots so this is very much in line with that (78 received of each)

EOY vote numbers have been declining for a while though, used to be a fair bit higher than that

The 00s poll from 2019 had 100 ballots for tracks and 111 for albums.

I will do a top 100 for both tracks and albums!

Will start working on images and bbcode, hopefully I can get time to add also a small blurb from zines that gave a positive review on each track / album.

If everything goes fine I might be ready to roll next Monday, if not it will probably be until Aug 23. Will update my status this weekend to confirm when we’re live!

it's pretty much in line with the 2021 EOY poll, not any sort of real drop-off thankfully (which i was a bit worried about because the board has felt even quieter this year generally)

What are the main contenders for the tracks poll then? And wonder if any of the yearly poll #1s won't make it, I think probably "Boys" for a start, as people will have voted for other, better Charli tracks (I went for Take My Hand)

based on recent poll results covering similarly broad ground i am going to guess that hit singles by performers who aren't "album artists" will not do well compared to their showings from the year-specific polls

Does "2 On" fall into that category? Cause I think that could still fare well. "Black Beatles", maybe not as much.

Yeah, I don't see Boys getting anywhere near our list. I still love it, but she has better as you say. Two others of hers made my list.

I would be surprised if people still rate Get Lucky that highly. Peggy Gou always seemed like a very surprising winner. No idea about Wut and 212. I can see them missing out. Out of our winners, I'd expect Inspector Norse, Realiti (Demo) and maybe 2 On to do the best.

Split voting is going to be interesting. No idea out of Run Away With Me or Call Me Maybe which is going to be the biggest contender for Carly. All those Ariana Grande, Kendrick Lamar and Taylor Swift etc nominations make it hard to know which songs will come out on top for any of them.

Overall, I think the tracks list will be way more unpredictable than albums. I can't wait!

didn't remember to vote for 2 On or Call Me Maybe! Those are two of the best tracks of the 2010s. Run Away With Me is really good, but not that close.

Well I certainly did my best to ensure 212 makes the top 100.

"Boys" is such a deeply odd #1 because Charli XCX released something like 77 songs herself in 2017 and I wouldn't even put it in the top 10 of those were we ranking them.

I'm hoping Superlove can sneak in. Still my favourite Charli despite all the amazing songs she's put out since then.

I'm not sure if anyone else does this but in my head there are songs which are "singles" even though they ended up on albums I love, and songs which are "album tracks" even though they ended up being singles, and I will always go for the former over the latter in a tracks poll - hence voting for "Call Me Maybe" over "Run Away With Me" or etc.

I don't know if I naturally make a mental distinction like that, but if I've heard the song prior to the album, and especially if I've seen the video, the song stands out in a way it doesn't if I hear it on the album first. Different context, for sure

I have noticed my favorite songs on albums often tend to be ones picked as singles anyway, and I'm not if that's a function of the extra exposure singles get or the elevated status making me pay more attention or simply catchiness or some other standout quality that me and the artist agree on

Balloon is good but it wears itself out very quickly.

Often if I hear an album first I end up loving a particular song, and then am mystified when a different song is picked as a single and everyone likes it.
