apologies if my formatting made it harder to totalhad to do it on my phone
― nxd, Tuesday, 2 August 2022 12:40 (one year ago) link
just checking that you meant to only vote for a single track?
― ufo, Tuesday, 2 August 2022 12:44 (one year ago) link
yes, thank you
― nxd, Tuesday, 2 August 2022 12:44 (one year ago) link
all good
formatting wasn't an issue at all
― ufo, Tuesday, 2 August 2022 12:46 (one year ago) link
thanks - if i do get a chance to complete a 50 tracks ballot (quite unlikely this week) - i'll post an update assuming that's ok
― nxd, Tuesday, 2 August 2022 12:49 (one year ago) link
yeah, that's fine
― ufo, Tuesday, 2 August 2022 12:50 (one year ago) link
posting to let you all know i am quite close to finalising my ballots
― imago, Tuesday, 2 August 2022 13:38 (one year ago) link
extremely important announcement over
got you covered!
folx, imago would also like to present a single track ballot:
Bad Bunny - Otra noche en Miami
― big movers, hot steppers + long shaker intros (breastcrawl), Tuesday, 2 August 2022 13:52 (one year ago) link
I could only manage an unweighted albums-only ballot but I voted.
― o. nate, Tuesday, 2 August 2022 14:35 (one year ago) link
i finally got the track list done. making up my mind about the top-5 was tough. deciding on #s 49 & 50 was impossible. hopefully can submit ballot tomorrow.

shit. just realized i forgot to nominate on of my fav's (Revival by Deerhunter). it's high enough for me that I guess I'm doing a write-in for it. (sorry!)
― FRAUDULENT STEAKS (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Tuesday, 2 August 2022 15:39 (one year ago) link
I noticed that nobody had nominated Desire Lines, which I thought odd, as I'd have probably thrown it some points. Ah well!
― imago, Tuesday, 2 August 2022 15:42 (one year ago) link
i was certain someone else had nominated it (Revival) but looks like it was a difference track.

Just wanted to point out that Ke$ha - TiK ToK is a 2009 song. Is that a "year of impact" thing?
― peace, man, Wednesday, 3 August 2022 01:22 (one year ago) link
yeah it first hit #1 in the US in 2010 & stayed there for a while, there's a pretty clear argument there
― ufo, Wednesday, 3 August 2022 01:41 (one year ago) link
it was also the first #1 of the decade
― in places all over the world, real stuff be happening (voodoo chili), Wednesday, 3 August 2022 02:10 (one year ago) link
ok, those are good arguments. I moved right at the turn of the decade, and distinctly remember first hearing tiktok at "the old house". but it definitely grew and grew in popularity.
― peace, man, Wednesday, 3 August 2022 02:13 (one year ago) link
yeah it had a slow build to #1 in november/december 2009, finally hitting it at the start of 2010 and staying there for 9 weeks
― ufo, Wednesday, 3 August 2022 02:23 (one year ago) link
― big movers, hot steppers + long shaker intros (breastcrawl)
Lol
Great choice imago

Tiktok being a 2010s song makes me feel ancient
― ✖✖✖ (Moka), Wednesday, 3 August 2022 02:38 (one year ago) link
Fuck I nommed that Bad Bunny track and just realized I didn’t vote for it because I thought noone else would have it in their ballots. I failed you imago.
― ✖✖✖ (Moka), Wednesday, 3 August 2022 02:39 (one year ago) link
It's funny, I also moved in 2010, and def. associate "Tik Tok" with the "new house" (tho I wasn't super plugged in, who knows when I finally heard it)
― HIPPO violation (morrisp), Wednesday, 3 August 2022 02:45 (one year ago) link
I strongly associate "Tik Tok" with "According To You" by Orianthi.

How many ballots have been received so far? Trying to decide if going the full 50 on each of mine would make a difference or not, and also hoping that the deadline creeps toward the end of the weekend rather than the beginning.
― Ⓓⓡ. (Johnny Fever), Wednesday, 3 August 2022 03:09 (one year ago) link
xxp also, ignore me, I'm thinking of "Til the World Ends" - which is not only 2011, but also a Britney song that I always think of as a Kesha song, b/c I'm an idiot.
― HIPPO violation (morrisp), Wednesday, 3 August 2022 03:09 (one year ago) link
only 31 so far, individual ballots are still having a fairly large impact, but i'm expecting a significant portion will come in the last few days because that's usually how it is
& i'll extend the deadline to 11:59pm GMT on Monday 8th August
― ufo, Wednesday, 3 August 2022 03:17 (one year ago) link
Thanks!
― Ⓓⓡ. (Johnny Fever), Wednesday, 3 August 2022 03:22 (one year ago) link
Depending on the number of ballots the rollout will be a top 100. I’d say at least 40 ballots will give the push to not have a bunch of ties in the low end.
― ✖✖✖ (Moka), Wednesday, 3 August 2022 04:00 (one year ago) link
i'd be pretty disappointed if we didn't get enough votes for a top 100 (without being pretty silly anyway) but i think we'll get there
there's also at least one album i'm completely baffled hasn't gotten a single vote yet
― ufo, Wednesday, 3 August 2022 04:25 (one year ago) link
thank goodness. like a month feels like not long enough to weigh in on a decade... but perfect is the enemy of good
― octobeard, Wednesday, 3 August 2022 04:39 (one year ago) link
album I nominated that is missing from the nominations doc:
Matthew Shipp - I've Been To Many Places
― aegis philbin (crüt), Wednesday, 3 August 2022 05:41 (one year ago) link
fixed, sorry about that
it looks like i was pretty terrible at catching nominations that were only a few at a time
― ufo, Wednesday, 3 August 2022 06:24 (one year ago) link
Voted - somehow I was able to power through this tonight.

I'm guessing Daft Punk or Big Boi for this.
― kitchen person, Wednesday, 3 August 2022 15:01 (one year ago) link
Lana del Rey or Joanna Newsom is my guess
― ✖✖✖ (Moka), Wednesday, 3 August 2022 15:06 (one year ago) link
Big Boi is a good guess tho. That album seemed adored when it came out several top 3 rankings everywhere that eoy and it lost loads of impact on end of decade.

Maybe one of the cancelled 2010s artists like Kanye or Grimes.
― Chris L, Wednesday, 3 August 2022 15:11 (one year ago) link
grimes has to be one of the favorites to win the tracks poll haha
― in places all over the world, real stuff be happening (voodoo chili), Wednesday, 3 August 2022 15:12 (one year ago) link
I'm absolutely sick to fucking death of Grimes, but she's still on both of my ballots (not yet submitted though)
― peace, man, Wednesday, 3 August 2022 15:16 (one year ago) link
I can see it being Lana's NFR. Feel like other albums of hers might get more support, especially Ultraviolence.
My Bloody Valentine is another one I wouldn't be surprised it was ignored/forgotten.

― ban, buddy (imago), Wednesday, 3 August 2022 21:23 (one year ago) link
A source close to this poster can also confirm NFR will receive at least one vote.

I am two thirds of the way down the playlist now, can I wrap it up by end of Monday? hm.
― link.exposing.politically (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Wednesday, 3 August 2022 21:59 (one year ago) link
i'll say that no one's named the one i'm thinking of so far
― ufo, Thursday, 4 August 2022 01:38 (one year ago) link
Grimes and Kanye sort of followed the same wavelength:
They both started the decade being loved by everyone. Dated and had kids with POS billionaires, and couldn’t stop saying the most vapid shit at every chance.0
― ✖✖✖ (Moka), Thursday, 4 August 2022 05:48 (one year ago) link
Kanye doesn’t just say “vapid shit,” he’s a politically active Trumper. (Also, Kim was no billionaire when they got together – whatever you think of her, she’s not to blame for who he is.)
― HIPPO violation (morrisp), Thursday, 4 August 2022 06:19 (one year ago) link
I mean, you can’t blame Musk either for Grimes.
― ✖✖✖ (Moka), Thursday, 4 August 2022 12:58 (one year ago) link
I did notice "Horchata" and "Cousins" by Vampire Weekend on the list, and those are arguably 2009 songs, as they were released as singles in October and November respectively. Though I suppose they could get by on Year of Impact rules. Does feel a little odd to see them on there, and then on the other end of the decade see "Don't Start Now".
