Around 1992 we had fun inventing names inspired by mighty 'ardkore japesters Altern 8. Being, er, 16 at the time, our winneres were:

Masturb 8
Fornic 8
Veget 8

and the winner?

Beer Cr 8

John Bullabaugh (John Bullabaugh), Monday, 4 August 2003 18:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I've come to the realization that I'm fucking sick and tired of all these shitty "cute" band names that are so popular nowadays.

Drummachine, some brown noise, a little screaming, throw in a moog playing a poppy melody and call your band "The haircomb dairyfactories" and you're immediately releasing kvlt 7"s on every shitty hip indielabel in America and Japan.

Sorry, I've just been visiting a lot of crap label's websites and listening to lots of really bad bands lately. I think it's time to return to the safe womb of my CD collection for a few days.

Øystein Holm-Olsen (Øystein H-O), Monday, 4 August 2003 18:32 (twenty-two years ago)

fhf, Friday, 30 September 2005 19:17 (twenty years ago)

My band and I went through weeks of coming up with band names (well, I came up with the majority, they didn't care that much). Here are some of them -

Claptrap
Slake
Royalty Check
Hannu Hates Freedom
The Good Old Days (G.O.D.'S)
All Over The Map
Respect Your Elders
Dig Up The Past
The Influence
Shepards of the Nation
Escapist
Stringer
Divisible By Four
Shake Lake
Reckless Abandon
Few and Far Between
Drain the Pain (gag name)
Caffiend
Pleasent Dreams
Band or Banter ?
Drudgery
Banned Practice
Straight and Narrow
To No Avail
Telescoping
False Alarm

Shockingly enough, there were more. But we decided on none of them. Personally, I liked "Claptrap".
