samosa gibreel, Monday, 27 July 2009 03:00 (sixteen years ago)

it was cool when I went last summer.

The Devil's Avocado (Gukbe), Monday, 27 July 2009 03:20 (sixteen years ago)

I can't answer for the Optimo guys obviously but could it be the Krikor edit ("Goodbye Horses" without the chorus, just keeps building up?)

Telephone thing, Monday, 27 July 2009 03:22 (sixteen years ago)

what was that amazing Q Lazarus edit/remix?

it was the krikor edit with a loop of this insanely heavy felix da housecat drum track mixed over it.

i dunno if it is, or ever was cool, but it's still immensely good fun. tonight - amazing crowd + amazing atmosphere + gavin russom live analogue intensity = my perfect club night.

stirmonster, Monday, 27 July 2009 05:07 (sixteen years ago)

Anyone heard this yet?

The Devil's Avocado (Gukbe), Thursday, 6 August 2009 18:47 (sixteen years ago)

Nah that's cool, it's a great poster! Hmmm can I make it up to Glasgow that weekend?

Neil S, Thursday, 6 August 2009 18:48 (sixteen years ago)

OK, so about 1:44:00 into Optimo's incredible Essential Mix, they drop this jaw-dropping remix of "Hallogallo", labeled as the "Mary Hill Rework". I have been searching for this thing for well over a year and a half, and the only other mention I can find of it is on http://www.wfmu.org/playlists/shows/5956. Has anyone ever come across this before?? Was it rereleased under a different moniker/title/etc? I would kind of sell my kidney to get a hold of this...

Is it Dingered & Rothered - Betty Botox?

off Betty's sublime kraut ep.

my opinionation (Hamildan), Tuesday, 18 August 2009 10:04 (sixteen years ago)

i'm afraid the remix of "hallogallo" was never released. it was done by jg wilkes and we did talk about putting it out but that idea fell by the wayside somewhere along the line.

Neil S, Tuesday, 18 August 2009 12:46 (sixteen years ago)

xxp is there any chance it might be released/"reissued" in the future? It's rock fucking solid

claws of jungle red (Stevie D), Tuesday, 18 August 2009 17:13 (sixteen years ago)

Is it from the Mount Florida/Mary Hill Krautrock split that was announced/unreleased?

claws of jungle red (Stevie D), Tuesday, 18 August 2009 17:38 (sixteen years ago)

Holy shit, this Betty Botox KRAUT EP is quite sublime, indeed!!

claws of jungle red (Stevie D), Tuesday, 18 August 2009 18:59 (sixteen years ago)

Is it from the Mount Florida/Mary Hill Krautrock split that was announced/unreleased?

it was indeed. the mount florida track ended up on betty's kraut ep.

Todd Terje lists the Optimo Remix of They Came From The Stars I Saw Them as his number 1 in his dj chart on juno this month (even though it came out nearly 3 years ago...!)

P.S. stirmonster I saw you at the Barbary in Philly back in January (and shook your hand and told you how much I loved "How to Kill the DJ, part 2") and it was one of the greatest things my friend and I ever saw. Do you remember the show well? How was it in relation to a typical night at Optimo?

claws of jungle red (Stevie D), Thursday, 27 August 2009 14:49 (sixteen years ago)

xpost

Damn, "In Order to Edit" kills, that Speedjack-into-The-Mover transition is astonishing- not to be all old skool bruv, but it brings me back to hearing The Mover DJ at VFM many many many years ago.

Neotropical pygmy squirrel, Thursday, 27 August 2009 15:06 (sixteen years ago)

How was it in relation to a typical night at Optimo

i can't really remember what i was playing but i do remember shaking your hand and i also remember it being one of my favourite us gigs. i love philly! i'm back next month (not sure where yet).

stirmonster, Friday, 28 August 2009 00:38 (sixteen years ago)

i need to go to optimo again sometime, got a job that means i'm often off on Mondays now so no excuse.

Aaah, let me know the date as soon as you find out so I can get off work! NYC's overblown; Philly rules :)

claws of jungle red (Stevie D), Friday, 28 August 2009 02:33 (sixteen years ago)

three weeks pass...

anybody else going to Alter Ego / Twitch / Fixed party at Knitting Factory Brooklyn tomorrow?

dmr, Thursday, 24 September 2009 19:09 (sixteen years ago)

one month passes...

been laid up due to illness all week so couldn't get into town, so does anyone know if there are tickets left for The Field, if so should I head into town and get some from somewhere if possible or should I get one on the door?

this was fun btw

dmr, Saturday, 14 November 2009 00:26 (sixteen years ago)

are they pre-selling Field tickets? usually it's just on the door but when they do pre-sell some sub club gigs i think it's only half in advance so you should get in easily if you turn up just before the doors open.

jed_, Saturday, 14 November 2009 00:31 (sixteen years ago)

that's the other worry. I think I'm seeing the Flaming Lips with a friend that night, which means (depending on where that gig is) I won't be making to the Sub Club until gone 11. Would be pretty annoyed if I missed The Field in order to see the Flaming Lips.

And I quote:

We just got asked to do a Fabric mix cd (due May 2010). Exciting!
