Alan on Twitter is a lot of fun. He’s very open and geeks out over guitar tone and nerdy tech stuff. Fellow touring musicians send him pics of their gear loaded in the back of their cars and he reviews how it’s packed.

I saw them at Manchester Cathedral the other night - what a venue! It was amazing but I had quite a miserable time as I had terrible sinusitus. I had a prime spot but was sneezing so much that I had to move to the catacombs as I think everyone around me was freaking out that I might be a Covid superspreader.

He's very dedicated to their Twitter, even liking my Tweet praising the gig. Last time they played he told me what a song was I had enquired about. I hadn't even tagged them in that so he must have been searching for mentions. I wish i could muster as much Twitter enthusiasm / dedication.

not sure what the volume was there but it was just right for me. i spent decades being in the if it's too loud you're too old camp but last time i saw MBV changed my mind. they were stupidly TOO loud.

Meh. I had the covids a couple of weeks ago and I'm still coughing too much to go to a show. Oh well.

Seems like they played the same set yesterday in Amsterdam. What a fucking amazing show. Divide and Dissolve were awesome, too

Ahhh missed that. Sweet! That was an amazing performance when they played it at Primavera in 2019. Very much looking forward to this show. Perhaps they drop one or two more Double Negative tracks in the encore.

Saw them for the first time. Great concert, great rendition of Hey and others, hearing the album live made me appreciate it anew.

hey, I just walked around the perimeter of Rock the Garden and there's a good & close view of the smaller stage from outside. probably gonna walk back for Low at 7:45.

oh yeah, this was great. five from Hey What, plus No Comprende, Plastic Cup, Canada ("did you ever think we'd still be up here after all this time, doing a clap-along?"). I was under a tree full of wind chimes, they should record an album with that tree. Low shows tend to contain at least one of the coolest things I've ever heard, this time it was the whole second half of Price You Pay.

I had no idea.

I don't think they made an official announcement before, but when they did the live shows from home during lockdown she was sometimes absent from those, so I think people knew something was wrong.

It's been some years for me since I saw them last and while I had hoped to see the Double Negative tour that wasn't an option due to some surgery I had around that time. That's small potatoes to this and now my selfish wish to see them again is because I just want her to make it through this.

Have to say I got a little choked up listening to “Don’t Walk Away” tonight— something about it radiates the ‘despite everything i love you more than anything’ vibe that happens with your person. I really hope Mimi is in good hands and has a full recovery.
