Alan on Twitter is a lot of fun. He’s very open and geeks out over guitar tone and nerdy tech stuff. Fellow touring musicians send him pics of their gear loaded in the back of their cars and he reviews how it’s packed.

^ agreed, their twitter feed's a blast
― StanM, Saturday, 30 April 2022 16:23 (four years ago)
I saw them at Manchester Cathedral the other night - what a venue! It was amazing but I had quite a miserable time as I had terrible sinusitus. I had a prime spot but was sneezing so much that I had to move to the catacombs as I think everyone around me was freaking out that I might be a Covid superspreader.
He's very dedicated to their Twitter, even liking my Tweet praising the gig. Last time they played he told me what a song was I had enquired about. I hadn't even tagged them in that so he must have been searching for mentions. I wish i could muster as much Twitter enthusiasm / dedication.
― stirmonster, Saturday, 30 April 2022 23:50 (four years ago)
it might have been even better at a more MBV-like volume.
not sure what the volume was there but it was just right for me. i spent decades being in the if it's too loud you're too old camp but last time i saw MBV changed my mind. they were stupidly TOO loud.
― stirmonster, Sunday, 1 May 2022 00:03 (four years ago)
Meh. I had the covids a couple of weeks ago and I'm still coughing too much to go to a show. Oh well.
― StanM, Wednesday, 4 May 2022 14:16 (four years ago)

*sighs, prepares interdict and articles of excommunication* Well perhaps I overreact.

Pardon? You'll need to speak up........
― stirmonster, Wednesday, 4 May 2022 20:49 (four years ago)
Too loud sucks, unless it's too loud through sheer acoustic power

Hello from The Chapel,
We're writing to inform you that our show with Low on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 has been rescheduled to Friday, March 31, 2023.
All original tickets will be honored.
Well shit. I wonder what caused this postponement - the band just recovered from covid and is still touring yes?
― octobeard, Thursday, 5 May 2022 00:26 (four years ago)
About the reschedule of fall west US dates:-We have accepted a very kind offer to do dates with @dcfc durring that time.-it’s rescheduled later, most tickets still valid. -Just couldn’t get Vancouver to fit the rerouting, sorry. (Not about Covid.)-Still w/ @dividedissolve !— LOW (@lowtheband) May 5, 2022

Are they doing a 10 min guitar freak-out version of Nothing But Heart?
― that's not my post, Thursday, 5 May 2022 15:11 (four years ago)
Not in Hackney, it was the same length as the album version, e.g. about eight or so minutes

holy shit that’s wild! Good for D/d

awww no songs from Double Negative? alas
― octobeard, Friday, 6 May 2022 05:58 (four years ago)
Uhh look again, octo (though it's not one I would expect)
― Vinnie, Friday, 6 May 2022 08:42 (four years ago)
This array of songs does contain one of those tracks, indeed.
― StanM, Friday, 6 May 2022 09:22 (four years ago)
;)Seems like they played the same set yesterday in Amsterdam. What a fucking amazing show. Divide and Dissolve were awesome, too
― willem, Friday, 6 May 2022 09:36 (four years ago)
Ahhh missed that. Sweet! That was an amazing performance when they played it at Primavera in 2019. Very much looking forward to this show. Perhaps they drop one or two more Double Negative tracks in the encore.
― octobeard, Friday, 6 May 2022 20:09 (four years ago)
Saw them for the first time. Great concert, great rendition of Hey and others, hearing the album live made me appreciate it anew.
― Nabozo, Saturday, 14 May 2022 09:31 (four years ago)
hey, I just walked around the perimeter of Rock the Garden and there's a good & close view of the smaller stage from outside. probably gonna walk back for Low at 7:45.
― sloop johnnin' skater (geoffreyess), Saturday, 11 June 2022 22:52 (three years ago)
oh yeah, this was great. five from Hey What, plus No Comprende, Plastic Cup, Canada ("did you ever think we'd still be up here after all this time, doing a clap-along?"). I was under a tree full of wind chimes, they should record an album with that tree. Low shows tend to contain at least one of the coolest things I've ever heard, this time it was the whole second half of Price You Pay.

wait, was it previously announced that Mimi's been fighting cancer?
― Murgatroid, Monday, 15 August 2022 16:16 (three years ago)
I had no idea.
― Josh in Chicago, Monday, 15 August 2022 16:21 (three years ago)
I don't think they made an official announcement before, but when they did the live shows from home during lockdown she was sometimes absent from those, so I think people knew something was wrong.
― lord of the rongs (anagram), Monday, 15 August 2022 16:24 (three years ago)
i believe she mentioned it in a radio interview earlier this year - don’t have a source handy but i think it’s linked upthread somewhere
― donna rouge, Monday, 15 August 2022 16:28 (three years ago)
yes, in this post on January 20th:
Low: Classic or classic?
― StanM, Monday, 15 August 2022 16:32 (three years ago)
Whenever she was gone, or Alan was doing something else, I just figured she was doing family stuff.
― Josh in Chicago, Monday, 15 August 2022 16:38 (three years ago)
:( unfortunately advanced ovarian cancer doesn't have great long-term prognosis. hope she can beat the odds.
― that's not my post, Monday, 15 August 2022 16:42 (three years ago)
Upsetting news. Best wishes to them.
― Chris L, Monday, 15 August 2022 16:50 (three years ago)
absolutely dreadful news, best of luck to them, hopefully mimi will successfully recover

― broccoli rabe thomas (the table is the table), Monday, 15 August 2022 16:58 (three years ago)
It's been some years for me since I saw them last and while I had hoped to see the Double Negative tour that wasn't an option due to some surgery I had around that time. That's small potatoes to this and now my selfish wish to see them again is because I just want her to make it through this.
― Ned Raggett, Monday, 15 August 2022 22:19 (three years ago)
Have to say I got a little choked up listening to “Don’t Walk Away” tonight— something about it radiates the ‘despite everything i love you more than anything’ vibe that happens with your person. I really hope Mimi is in good hands and has a full recovery.

Very sorry, y’all. Mim is in a pretty fragile state and it’s just not possible to perform or travel for now. https://t.co/IWwKn6CKRC— LOW (@lowtheband) September 12, 2022
― global tetrahedron, Monday, 12 September 2022 19:28 (three years ago)
Aw, that's bad news. Hopefully she's getting the treatment she needs, even if that's what is keeping her from playing.
― Josh in Chicago, Monday, 12 September 2022 20:14 (three years ago)
They just cancelled the UK and Europe dates in November. Send your positive thoughts and energies Mimi’s way.

RIP Mimi :(

this is heartbreaking. it's pretty hard to put into words what her voice and presence meant. one of the greatest bands of all time full stop.
