When I walk my dog, he likes to kick and scrape with his back paws after he, well, poops. Which is a problem if I'm on somebody's lawn. And then one day I had a certain playlist on. So now in these situations, I like to croon quietly to myself--

Every time my partner says "darling", I think (and sometimes say) "we're up against it." Which is a problem, because darling is my partner's go-to when addressing me.

The thing is, I don't even like 'Major Leagues' that much. But it's lodged in my head somehow.

"Beef Bourgignon" to 'Carol of the bells'

― kinder, Friday, 8 January 2021 23:02 (one year ago) bookmarkflaglink

This is getting more ingrained as I get older.

New ones:
Scrubbin' the potatoes - to the Donna Summer - I Feel Love intro

Not strictly what this thread describes but I listened to Goodbye Yellow Brick Road quite a lot and the lyrics 'Your temperament's wrong for the priesthood - and teaching would suit you still less' - from the Dentist song in Little Shop of Horrors - just jump right in there, every time (at the 'Maybe you'll get a replacement - there's plenty like me to be found' bit).

If done up in a ludicrously parodic Joisey accent by local radio talent, that could have made a good bumper for NJ FM stations in the late 90s.

I used to wake up in the morning, I used to feel so bad
I got so sick of having sleepless nights, I went and told my dad
He said, "Son, now here's some little something,"
And stuck it on my wall
And now my nights ain't quite so lonely
In fact I, I don't feel bad at all (I don't feel bad at all)

frogbs, Tuesday, 31 January 2023 22:52 (three years ago)

when I was in 6th grade choir they made us sing 'intro' songs, usually existing melodies with lyrics changed to be about facts about us, and one duo chose "Do You Love Me?" as their melody but sang "Do you know me? No I don't! Do you know me? No I don't! Do you know me? Now you're in my class!" and that's still how I hear it to this day because I remember only the most inane shit from childhood.
