The crazy thing is that if I were to compile a CDr of Drake favorites, a LOT of these wouldn’t be included.

oh i missed marvins room somehow lmao
― ufo, Saturday, 4 September 2021 12:42 (four years ago)
i think it comes down to "too good", "passionfruit", or "in my feelings". they pull off the vibe most successfully & his ridiculous persona doesn't get too obnoxious on any of them
― ufo, Saturday, 4 September 2021 13:00 (four years ago)
like i guess he's at his best when the music is at its breeziest
― ufo, Saturday, 4 September 2021 13:20 (four years ago)
Nice for What is my favorite, Drake is usually good the rare times he doesn’t sing about… Drake.
― Van Horn Street, Saturday, 4 September 2021 14:00 (four years ago)

i've only heard like 10% of these!
my actual favorite Drake is his feature on "Aston Martin Music"

remember when pitchfork posted a review of "yes indeed" implying that it was a horrible misstep that could bungle lil baby's shot at mainstream stardom
as if he was making music hoping to please culture snobs instead of like, normal people
― dyl, Saturday, 4 September 2021 17:14 (four years ago)
I think it’s good that pitchfork writes against the grain of “will this work”
― xheugy eddy (D-40), Saturday, 4 September 2021 21:56 (four years ago)
best I ever had

my POX would be ... i'd have trouble getting ten but
Successful (feat. Trey Songz & Lil Wayne)The Motto (feat. Lil Wayne)
(the stretch between those two is ... rough imo^^^ but ive never liked take care. if this was a list of 'iconic singles' instead of like, my personal favs, obv marvins room is up there or whatever. but fuck that. whats the fun in ranking drake songs if you feel some obligation to canonization? just doing a list of drake singles is enough)
Take Care (feat. Rihanna)Started from the BottomEnergyHotline BlingControllaGod's PlanNice for WhatIn My Feelings
― xheugy eddy (D-40), Sunday, 5 September 2021 00:00 (four years ago)
of course if you included 'im on one' which imo is the first truly great Drake single i'd bump something off. agree about 'aston martin music' also
― xheugy eddy (D-40), Sunday, 5 September 2021 00:01 (four years ago)
energy i go back n forth on too. that sing-song-y flow feels extremely tied to its time
― xheugy eddy (D-40), Sunday, 5 September 2021 00:02 (four years ago)
his singing on "aston martin music" was a station-changer for me at the time and i don't feel much better about it now
― dyl, Sunday, 5 September 2021 00:25 (four years ago)
"Hotline Bling" without a moment's hestitation.
― i carry the torch for disco inauthenticity (Eric H.), Sunday, 5 September 2021 00:29 (four years ago)
yea my list was chronlogical but i voted for hotline bling. that feels like the "a five year old hears this on the radio a decade from now and loves it" type song vs., idk, "headlines" or something
― xheugy eddy (D-40), Sunday, 5 September 2021 00:50 (four years ago)

but that's his best song! it's the strongest example of drake turning so many of his unlikeable and pathetic character traits into a sad, interesting portrait. and the production is just perfect on it.
but since that's not one there, gonna vote for Nice For What
― josh az (2011nostalgia), Sunday, 5 September 2021 01:18 (four years ago)
there could even be a second poll just with Drake features, and it could have just as many entries as this poll. Work, I'm On One, Fuckin Problems, Club Going up on a Tuesday... +80-minute drake records are a slog to get through and stuffed with filler, but in short doses he can be fun
― josh az (2011nostalgia), Sunday, 5 September 2021 01:21 (four years ago)
Just voted "Chicago Freestyle", could've went with "Fake Love" or "Passionfruit"
― Kangol In The Light (Craig D.), Sunday, 5 September 2021 01:25 (four years ago)
Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

“marvin’s room” is godawful, narcissist, slow-as-molasses bullshit, and directly responsible for much of the worst rap music of the past decade
― grove street (party) direction (voodoo chili), Sunday, 12 September 2021 12:58 (four years ago)
But is it goid

Meant to vote for “Diplomatic Immunity.”
― ... (Eazy), Monday, 13 September 2021 22:42 (four years ago)
Passionfruit is a 7/10 song at best
― human and working on getting beer (longneck), Tuesday, 14 September 2021 13:39 (four years ago)
Drake back on the charts for now
With the recent release of Iceman, Maid Of Honour, and Habibti, Drake became the first artist to hold the top three albums on the Billboard 200 chart. Now, the world-dominating rapper is claiming nine songs in the Top 10, and his interpolation of Lykke Li's "I Follow Rivers" earned her her first Hot 100 credit at #1.
As for Drake occupying nine spots out of the Top 10, it's Ella Langley's "Choosin' Texas" that's blocking him from a complete takeover.
