used all five extra slots this time around, even if Japanese Breakfast doesn't get a vote.

Voted for Bad Liar, b/c I was just listening to it in the car (recency bias strikes again).

aging goth couple™ (morrisp), Thursday, 15 July 2021 01:54 (four years ago)

a lot of great songs, from #1 Green Light to #50 Glue

Dan S, Thursday, 15 July 2021 02:04 (four years ago)

I'm surprised to find this is my favourite list so far. I could go for any of these:

Charli XCX - Boys
Dua Lipa - New Rules
Perfume Genius - Slip Away
Carly Rae Jepsen - Cut to the Feeling
Wolf Alice - Don't Delete the Kisses
Selena Gomez - Bad Liar
Charli XCX - Track 10
Paramore - Hard Times
SZA - Drew Barrymore
Japanese Breakfast - Road Head

If it had been Boyish by Japanese Breakfast it would have been easy, but right now it feels like a coin toss between Paramore and Wolf Alice.

voted for Patrice Bäumel - Glutes for my #1 in the 2017 poll

Dan S, Thursday, 15 July 2021 02:13 (four years ago)

HUMBLE

voted for Patrice Bäumel - Glutes for my #1 in the 2017 poll

great track that i discovered from that poll lol

some of these rankings seem bizarre. somehow i didn't know there was a "mask off" remix with kendrick lamar

dyl, Thursday, 15 July 2021 05:15 (four years ago)

i went with "motion sickness" tho i was also tempted to go for "love galore"

dyl, Thursday, 15 July 2021 05:17 (four years ago)

Over Everything, Hard Times, and T-Shirt are all great.

billstevejim, Thursday, 15 July 2021 06:33 (four years ago)

boys is the greatest song of all time

Left, Thursday, 15 July 2021 11:35 (four years ago)

Surprised myself by choosing Phoebe Bridgers, a song I barely noticed at the time but love now.

Ⓓⓡ. (Johnny Fever), Thursday, 15 July 2021 11:40 (four years ago)

track 10, big for your boots, LMK, both kendrick tracks are also fucking great. whatever's left of indie rock here is largely worse than ever though

Left, Thursday, 15 July 2021 11:41 (four years ago)

Hard Times just over Green Light, I think. Cut to the Feeling is up there too. Might have gone with Wolf Alice or Charli XCX if there had been different offerings from the same albums.

peace, man, Thursday, 15 July 2021 14:20 (four years ago)

7 1193 Lil Uzi Vert - XO Tour Llif3
11 1472 SZA feat. Travis Scott - Love Galore
23 2245 Carly Rae Jepsen - Cut to the Feeling
39 3277 Thundercat feat. Kenny Loggins & Michael McDonald - Show You the Way

DUM SURFER!!!

things repeat forever and there never is a remedy (Austin), Thursday, 15 July 2021 14:48 (four years ago)

I like "Cut To The Feeling" but not as much as anything on Emotion. It kinda always sounded like a glossed-up b-side to me.

billstevejim, Thursday, 15 July 2021 15:07 (four years ago)

"Humble," "XO Tour Llif3," "Boys," "New Rules," "Truth," "Cut to the Feeling," and "Don't Delete the Kisses" all make my top 100 songs of the decade. The Phoebe, War on Drugs, Charli ("Track 10"), and Japanese Breakfast albums would do the same.

I went with "Cut to the Feeling." Glossed up, certainly, but also transportive for me in a way no other track on this list is. An instant sugar high.

Indexed, Thursday, 15 July 2021 15:17 (four years ago)

11 songs from 2017 were on the list i made last year, five of em are on here (uzi, wolf alice, kamasi, carti, slowdive for "sugar")

my 2017 songs that didn't make the acclaimed music cut:
03 greedo - never bend
mozzy - sleep walkin
susanne sundfor - undercover
tay-k - the race
bedouine - summer cold
field music - disappointed

bart harley-jarvis cocker (voodoo chili), Thursday, 15 July 2021 15:29 (four years ago)

enjoy a lot of this list even though i think "green light" is godawful

STOCK FIST-PUMPER BRAD (BradNelson), Thursday, 15 July 2021 15:30 (four years ago)

torn between... "new rules," "night shift," and "magnolia"

STOCK FIST-PUMPER BRAD (BradNelson), Thursday, 15 July 2021 15:38 (four years ago)

"Cut to the Feeling" is one of those songs where they wrote a great chorus, and then decided just to mark time instead of writing actual verses & a bridge

aging goth couple™ (morrisp), Thursday, 15 July 2021 16:46 (four years ago)

Sugar for the Pill

Chris L, Thursday, 15 July 2021 17:02 (four years ago)

Damn, I missed "Magnolia" - definitely made my tracks of the decade. Same with "Boys" but I'm assuming that will get lots of votes.

I also loved:
Power Trip "Executioner's Tax"
Alex G "Bobby"
Alex G "Proud"
Aye Nako “Particle Mace”
Jocko “Muddy Waters”
Lil Yachty “Bring It Back”
Guided By Voices “Overloaded”

At the time I also really loved N*E*R*D & Rihanna "Lemon" which I still think was underrated.

billstevejim, Thursday, 15 July 2021 18:29 (four years ago)

Dum Surfer.

"Cut to the Feeling" is one of those songs where they wrote a great chorus, and then decided just to mark time instead of writing actual verses & a bridge

otm but I still love it

Lily Dale, Friday, 16 July 2021 16:48 (four years ago)

I know ILM is a bad forum to make this point in, but it's funny to me that Acclaimed's methodology makes it seem like Slowdive was one of the biggest musical phenomena of 2017, and that they were far more significant in that year than in their 90s work: http://acclaimedmusic.net/artist/Slowdive.htm

rob, Friday, 16 July 2021 17:01 (four years ago)

it could be argued that slowdive are more popular now (in the u.s.) than they ever were in their 90s heyday

bart harley-jarvis cocker (voodoo chili), Friday, 16 July 2021 17:22 (four years ago)

def part of the dissonance for me is how weird it is for this former teenaged US slowdive fan to see them alongside Kendrick, SZA, and Charli XCX with not one but two songs on this list (another part is I thought the reunion album was p boring but w/e)

rob, Friday, 16 July 2021 17:59 (four years ago)

this is an interesting discussion, as a fan of Slowdive since the debut album and seeing them or Mojave 3 around 15 times since the debut album. the 2017 album was finally their breakthrough, they played arenas three to four times bigger than anything they ever did in the 90s. also the latest album was probably more revered than any of their prior albums. i actually think the newest album is their best as well, it just all came together for them...

Going off the beaten track and voting for the 12 minute epic "Thinking of a Place."

the future is now, Saturday, 17 July 2021 17:59 (four years ago)

voted for Bicep - Glue, in part for the nostalgic video, but also because I really like that track

Dan S, Sunday, 18 July 2021 01:12 (four years ago)

"Cut to the Feeling" is one of those songs where they wrote a great chorus, and then decided just to mark time instead of writing actual verses & a bridge

Damn, I hadn't quite noticed this before and now I'm not going to be able to hear it any other way.

peace, man, Sunday, 18 July 2021 11:38 (four years ago)

I think that's true of a lot of Carly Rae Jepsen songs and I've just learned to accept it.

Lily Dale, Sunday, 18 July 2021 16:14 (four years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

System, Monday, 19 July 2021 00:01 (four years ago)

of the artist that got two songs on this list:

DNA. > HUMBLE.
Los Ageless > New York
Boys > Track 10
Love Galore > Drew Barrymore
Sugar for the Pill > Star Roving

changing my original vote from "Sugar for the Pill" to "Dum Surfer," a song i did not know before this poll, and just over "Night Shift" and "XO Tour Llif3."

Bee OK, Monday, 19 July 2021 17:36 (four years ago)

ILM 2017 Tracks poll winner down in 15th place

A viking of frowns, (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Tuesday, 20 July 2021 08:06 (four years ago)

I hated that song but tbf she's actually tied at a 'third-place' level with eight other songs, with six songs scoring higher.

Sequel to Sadness (Sund4r), Tuesday, 20 July 2021 11:37 (four years ago)

Some really great songs with no votes there. Wolf Alice in particular deserved better.
