I have a friend who insists that Foxy Shazam is the worst band name of all time. I always maintain that it's not even the worst band name with 'foxy' in it tho. That name, despite my better instincts, actually makes me curious to hear the band.

I'd like to theorize that modifying 'foxy' with even more dubious words sonehow lessens the blow, but that would be terribly dishonest. The truth is i actually really like the word 'shazam'.

I did pointedly ignore the Jooklo groups for several years before stumbling across a description of this record that finally made me curious enough to check them out, so it is actually on topic haha

Wheatus's debut album was weird, they were obsessed with the iROC, which they mentioned in "Teenage Dirtbag", but are also pictured in one in the liner notes.

There have been a lot of other bands over the last several years with similarly prosaic names, that by all rights I should avoid out of principle, expect that I kinda like them all: Real Estate, Tennis, Hockey, etc.

The one that cracked me up was back in the 90s was Rhinos the all ages club in Bloomington booked John Cougar Concentration Camp unheard just so it could put it on the marquee.

I wrote off Bitchin Bajas for a long time, but they are well worth enduring their bad name.

I've written off bands whose titles come from cool and completely non-obscure choices: The Grifters and Twin Peaks are two that come to mind.

We Were Promised Jetpacks is a great name I think. And they're a nice wee band.

In defense of the Grifters, I don't think the Jim Thompson novel was "completely non-obscure" when they chose their name (tho I also don't generally favor band names that are just the name of something else "cool").
