if i were more cool i might know some of the supporting acts but since i'm not and i don't it's fun to think of them as just people the poster designer/festival organizer knows who volunteered to get onstage and noodle around before the bands arrive
"gayle's gonna do a monologue from her one-woman show! and lanie, she's bringing her ukelele, it's gonna be lit!"
and they're just up there on a huge bare stage in the bleak afternoon sunlight, rocking out, crowd going apeshit

One of the saddest anecdotes in The Dirt was about Vince Neil trying to start a riot at one of his solo concerts so it would get cancelled and he could make it to the local strip clubs before they closed.― Halfway there but for you, Tuesday, June 29, 2021 1:55 PM (five hours ago) bookmarkflaglinkthe ones here are open until 5 am, how late was his show going to go― cancel culture club (Neanderthal), Tuesday, June 29, 2021 1:56 PM (five hours ago) bookmarkflaglinkMaybe he only starts riots in towns with early curfews?― Halfway there but for you, Tuesday, June 29, 2021 1:59 PM (five hours ago) bookmarkflaglinkplaces small enough the strip club is in the next county― mh, Tuesday, June 29, 2021 2:36 PM (five hours ago) bookmarkflaglink

Did a quick review of setlist.fm's entries for Vince Neil in the mid-to-late 90s. One of the places he played was in a strip mall next to a carpet store and another has since become a standalone gyros shop.
― peace, man, Tuesday, 29 June 2021 23:53 (four years ago)
Christ, he played at the Tumble Inn in Eckerman, Michigan (now Eckerman Self-Storage). That's in the Upper Peninsula and it's not even Marquette! It's kinda impressive that he made inroads so deep into nowhere.

the semi-local (small town a 45 minute drive from me) festival Vince Neil played at was some combination family arts&crafts, fishing derby, car show thing. The other musical acts were Great White and Night Rangernot that late may 2021 was a prime time for live music, however

Seriously!
Also, Dishwalla once headlined the Fells Point Fun Fest. I was there to see Too Much Joy, who were the penultimate band before Dishwalla. Due to the festival running behind and an apparently precise starting time demand by Dishwalla, Too Much Joy only got to play 4 songs. So it brings me a small amount of joy to see them so far up this chaotic festival bill.

OK, so Lollapalooza is (I think) next week. That means the people least concerned about covid and least likely to be vaccinated against covid will be congregating densely in the midst of a dramatic spike in infections. Supposedly requiring proof of vaccination or a negative test, and those unvaxxed are supposed to wear a mask (yeah right), so what can go wrong?
I like DeRo's take:
“If you’ve got anyone at home you could be exposing, you should not go. Eat the ticket,” DeRogatis told The Post.
