xp I haven't heard it either, very cool--I remember really liking Ponty's King Kong Zappa tribute album w/ Duke on it, though

Anthony Braxton and pals at teh Town hall in 1972. Possibly more melodic than I might have though. Still pretty abstract.
I had this in the mid 90s after picking it up from a sale in Dublin. Lost it a few years alter and replaced i last year.
I'm not very familiar with Braxton so not sure to what extent this is representative of him.
Enjoying it though, like keeping to about a week on the 3changer for 3 titles cos it does mean I become more familiar with the music involved. Do wonder what else I need from braxton though.
This has some weird elements in it, like the wordless scat singing on a couple of tracks. Nice bass anyway.

Secretly Canadian version of teh 2nd Swell maps lp. THis is growing on me sounds like either production or representation of that production is odd and sounds like i has gauze across it.
Anyway nice semi amateur Krautrock influenced post-punk weirdness that appears to be cited as an influence by quite a few bands I grew up liking. Plus saw Epic Soundtracks several times with the Howard Brothers version of Crime & The City Solution.
Have been thinking of getting the SC version of a trip TO marineville too.
Have actually wanted to get hold of teh Secretly canadian versions of these lps for years but wound up getting the Mute version of Marineville cos i never saw the Sc around.

2nd disc of the Hi lps compilation by Ann Peebles with Straight From the Heart & I can't Stand the rain on it.
She has a great voice in places. I mean doesn't seem to be overly showy and does convey feeling.
Backing band also pretty good.
Have had this for ages and not played it in probably too long.
Like bits of this area of music and should probably know what else from this rough area I really should know.

I love Ann Peebles. "Not overly showy" is an apt description, and I can hear how she never hit the heights of Aretha or Mavis, but she's a really affecting singer. Others I grab for when I'm in that mood: Mable John and Ruby Johnson (both compilations on Stax, much of it surprisingly unreleased at the time) and Candi Staton.

2nd lp by Liverpool psych heads.
I think the sound had expanded a bit from the first. Nice droney drifting rock.
I know the guitars were influential on Savage Republic among others but the rest of the instrumentation is as eclectically played.
Has been interesting to read about what had influenced the band members in their playing.
Lyricism is pretty base in places. But I think it fits together well.
I wish I'd picked this up closer to teh time but I think the only thing by them i had was Porcupine. & it was the early to mid 90s when i was getting into this. So this is the 2nd cd of it I have.
Happened to be in a pile of cds I had hidden behind the table I use as my worktable. & i had noticed when i was rebuilding a shelf unit that sits behind it. So possibly not listened to this since i was ripping things for my ATRAC walkman a few years back.

first lp by singer songwriter on John Peel's Dandelion label. Sounds like a folky Nico backed with an acoustic guitar taht manages to fill out the sound remarkably well.,
Bridget St John, I've been meaning to pick up the rest of the Dandelion material for a while. Hope its not too late.
As i said I'm surprised y how full a sound there is from just her voice and acoustic guitar, you'd think there was more in this. I think the guitar is played by her and fingerpicked in a way that really is quite amazing. Not sure how much of that is production. Not sure what live material by her is circulating but I do know there are Peel sessions which wouldn't have had much time spent on production.
Want some more. Her next lp is supposed to be the classic.

MIx of Spiritual jazz and funky jazzoetry and things.
This had a companion book with some great photos of the players involved.
It features the Last poets track It's A Trip which I used as a theme tune on my radio show in the mid 90s though that was from a 2fer cd of the lp its from and one from a similar vintage. On that they're backed by a full band featuring Bernard Purdie.
Do like Soul Jazz's compilation lps . Seem to hang together pretty well.
