those are so cool looking but the body size and the banjo tuners is just....a lot.

i've ordered some stuff to continue modding the tele thinline--b/w/b guard, deluxe-style knobs, and 1-meg pots for tone and volume to match the original spec for all the wide-range equipped fenders.

If you need the repro WRHBs to sound cleaner, you can screw out (or even remove) the hidden polepieces from underneath the pickup, effectively you get around 1.5 polepieces per string instead of 2, gets a little more single coil although it's still a bar magnet pickup.

I played a PRS a few years ago & was blown away, but the aesthetics of the thing were so awful that I couldn’t possibly.

The aesthetics of a PRS are borderline upsetting to me, like the fact that someone with the money to buy a very nice guitar would think THAT looks nice

most of the time when somebody says one thing is 'cooler' than another, and they aren't standing over two mounds of freshly made french fries, or two freshly baked pizza pies, etc., I assume they mean aesthetically.

Near as I can tell, it gives you different scale lengths for each string. So I guess you might get a thicker / boomier sound&feel on low strings and a tighter/snappier sound&feel on high strings.

I cannot imagine doing that on a six-string because I play very chordally (and my sense of muscle memory is entirely set in stone), but I can kinda understand how it might work on a bass. You get a deeper tone on the low string and the higher ones have more tension for soloing. Like Lee Sklar's basses:
