Faded is great, Black Love is great overall, but its second half is really superb eh.

my favorite thing about their "creep" is that it isn't a transformation like some of their other cover version, but actually a very reverent, faithful rendition

he does quite like to sing one song's lyrics over another song's music

eg touch me i'm sick/i touch myself/let it all hang out or mother/dr jimmy/ holocaust/in the mouth a desert during live versions of 'you my flower'

does that all the time with his own songs too, mostly on opening tracks iirc

their "lost in a supermarket" cover is certainly one of my favourites, it's one where i could make the case it's better than the original, and the original is one of my very favourite clash songs too

The “Creep” cover is pretty faithful but is infected with this slightly ambiguous, tense undercurrent which is something that Dulli does with his covers so well

There is something about this band that is like The Band. They have these funky little grooves that they work to death, never quite just playing a simple, um, backbeat. Also, hope I don't type everything in think in the polling thread and run out of things to say on the rollout.

"esta noche" is such a cool track, the way it starts out with that two note electric piano bit that continues through the entire song and that eventually becomes part of the wall of sound where you kinda feel it more than anything else, and that jazzy crescendo rules so much. interestingly kamasi washington plays on it, one of his earlier session gigs. i don't understand the live versions at all though, it's sped up ridiculously and completely loses the groove
