You may be right. I’ve definitely seen some Instagram stories from the studio since WYP came out, but I also know that she’s talked about starting work on the next album and that it’s a continuation of the sound of “Remember Where You Are”, so it could be that she was recording that instead.

i found the interview where she talked about the next album and she said she intends for it to release early next year (so probably what she's been working on most recently then) & will be like "remember where you are" "with a bit of energy" which sounds great to me

ah and found another interview where she confirms the deluxe edition tracks are outtakes & that she's been working with kylie lately!

it kind of reminds me a little of the inferior and utterly obscure 80s track called “Wild Girls” by Rori, but to be honest that’s just indicative of a whole swathe of shimmery dancefloor oriented pop from the time. i love the space she allows for the track between lines, i love the fuckin HARMONIES.

more than a bit of Madonna’s “Open Your Heart” added to this stew too i reckon

Haven't heard to the new song yet but I did finally listen to the album after enjoying the 3 tracks from the top 77. man, the album is something else, remarkable consistency. Think I'll wait for the platinum version and plunk down some cash

Perhaps a dull observation but that's some extremely Prince guitar that starts showing up in the chorus. I don't want to be reductive because the whole thing works as its own thing - but it is very much a late-80s love letter. George Michael would have loved it!

oh i don't know just spitballing. it also reminds me of talking heads. they did that minor key blues rhythm guitar lick all over the early stuff.

the 'ooo ooooo aye-ya-yaye" bit is very "all night long (all night)"

i love this thing that she's on where it's all about the little bits of fliration that happen before any physical contact. classy and romantic but still great fun.

come to think of it, the harmonies in the chorus (which are what MAKE the track imo) also sound a little bit like remain-in-light era talking heads, but like joyful rather than aggressive and cocaine-y.

the video seems like it's in conversation with roisin's 'plaything' video (which is superior imo but i mean it's hard to top)

“Hot N Heavy” is another stunner.

I don’t know, I listened to this today and apart from the two pre-released songs and “Overtime” I was like “these are fun but I get why they were cut from the album.” I mean it’s all great but I think a much longer album would have been exhausting. I think she has broadly made the right call here.

well yeah, it would have been exhausting as any 90 minute album would be exhausting but still, they're all as good as the songs on the actual album

the material here is so good that i think she could have gotten away with it is the thing

The songs are all good enough to be a standalone mini-lp/ep instead of the bonus material on a deluxe reissue, but $$$

Loooving "Hot and Heavy", what a vibe. Could have easily seen this as a double album, the quality of these eight tracks is high

highlight of the bonus tracks might be "0208" for me, yet again I'm perplexed by ILX's indifference to Kindness

The Kindness debut album is perhaps one of my favorite albums of the 2010’s and much of it is how it sounds. I’m not sure if it’s because Erol Alkan was involved or what happened afterwards that I haven’t been as attracted to his music ever since. Maybe I just changed. I still play the debut often, though.
