A lot of bands/record labels have been upgrading their videos to HD or even 4K in some instances in the past year or two. In a lot of cases they just replaced the existing video that was already there.
Especially impressive are the restored 4K videos for the singles from Alanis Morisette's Jagged Little Pill.

so what's the point of new digital remasters when there are already fully analog ones? is it because it's more difficult to do a fully analog release?

My question just answered itself as I was told the standard edition of Loveless I had in my cart is no longer available

Pounced on the standard Isn't Anything (an album I slightly prefer anyway) before it too sells out

so dumb that these are so limited

There's still some around if you do some searching, I just got a copy of Loveless from Picadilly Records in Manchester.

I'd love to see the EPs re-released on vinyl at some point.

I'm sure they are waiting to give the EPs their own vinyl release as they'll probably spread it over 3 records, so likely to be too much of a box set to 'drop' right now

The EP’s being unavailable on vinyl is definitely annoying

still love the fact that re the 2012 reissues : lots of news re the 2cd edition of Loveless having a remastered edition of the digital and analogue version.
then they supposedly mixed up the labelling on the cds.
not that it was possible to tell any difference from what i can recall.

~ please tell me if i need to rip the other cd in my 2cd set (no idea which one i ripped at the time) and experience a massive difference ~

they mixed up the labeling and there was a digital error on the analog “what you want” it was a whole thing

to add to the confusion.. while the new deluxe versions of loveless and isn’t anything are claimed to be “fully analog” while the standard versions are from “hi res digital”, this doesn’t seem to be the case for mbv with the difference between the deluxe and the standard version being a different sleeve only, as far as i can tell from the description.

and don’t forget about the 2018 analog remasters including rejected pressings of isn’t anything as extras (at least that’s what i got, were there similar pressings of loveless?)

The AAA cut was reassembled by splicing tapd, I think he even said he replayed a guitar layer on Soon?

So a new "high Res" digital master will be a new transfer and assembly from the analogue recordings.

i revisited the catalog a few weeks ago and decided mbv from 1988-1991 is the best band i've ever heard, can't disagree with any reverence

mbv aren't corny at all imo, they're almost maddeningly vague and ungraspable

God, I wish. But I’ve already bitched about this countless times across several threads. I’m not going to rehash my gripes here, especially since I do like MBV (I don’t love them tho).

I suppose what makes the new digital source for Loveless worthwhile (and obviously ymbvmmv in that regard) is it will be truer to the original release than the analog cut and also closer to the recording than the original release.

Re that Pitchfork list; Slow is on Spotify as part of the ‘EPs’ compilation, at least in the UK. Must be missing for some reason in the States.

the EPs compilation isn't available on streaming in the States because of some issue with the rights to it being owned by Warner there according to the NYT article
