Sheldon Pearce ( former Pitchfork current New Yorker writer editor) calls Alchemist “one of hiphop’s greatest producers ever” in his little New Yorker review of Armand Hammer “Haram.” I like Alchemist style but am not sure if he’s in top pantheon. What do you all think?

he's been a fixture for two decades and he's arguably having his greatest (critical) success now, idk where i'd put him on my personal list but he's worked himself into the conversation

I really hate ranking shit, but I definitely think the last decade has done a lot to make his stock rise

and in retrospect he's definitely part of what led to the whole new east coast grimy underground shit - griselda, mach hommy, roc marciano, the god fahim, etc etc etc, hell daringer's whole sound
