remix album crooked machine out in a few weeks.
dangit now I have to retitle my compilation of the 20-50 minutes per single of crooked mixes
(nb Crooked Man topped 50min of remixes on his own 2016 single Happiness, including a 14-minute "24-inch" version that plays like a classic disco arrangement with natural builds and peaks) BTW there was a third part to those "live, up a tree in Ibiza" videos, uploaded a week later:

"Crooken Machine" is actually titled "Crooken Madame" so that would be SHELLFISH MADEMOISELLE
― winters (josh), Wednesday, 7 April 2021 19:24 (three years ago) link
so, these are all brand new, not previous mixes/versions?
― Cocteau Twinks (jed_), Wednesday, 7 April 2021 19:46 (three years ago) link
ta josh!
none of these have the same names as previously-released mixes, and it's very on-brand for Parrot to remix the entire album again.

i was kinda underwhelmed by the album after how much i liked "assimilation". certainly not bad or anything just not anything to be excited by either
― ufo, Tuesday, 4 May 2021 02:23 (three years ago) link
thanks to the whole st. vincent stuff I had a dream I did an absolutely awful interview with her in which I screwed up to an extent that there was open hostility

Xpost: ditto “assimilation” was even better than the album version but the rest of the remixes leave me lukewarm. I still think it’s a great remix album but I wouldn’t play it over the original.

Kingdom of Machines works in a very different way to KoE. I'd say it's at least as good.

We Are The Law bears little relation to ML, it's a completely new and great track. I'm a little burnt out on ML tbh.

new shit coming too:
“I wrote a really great track last week… it’s got fucking oboes on it,” she joyfully exclaims from her Ibiza bolthole, where she’s currently riding out a portion of the pandemic wave. “I said I wouldn’t do disco again, but I couldn’t turn it down. It’s just an amazing arrangement.” ... “It’s gonna blow your mind,” she purrs. “It’s a whole other world. It’s fuckin’ tops down, LA… bouncing up and down on the cars. Hold tight!”

“It’s gonna blow your mind,” she purrs. “It’s a whole other world. It’s fuckin’ tops down, LA… bouncing up and down on the cars. Hold tight!”
As well as this top-secret new piece, she’s also been working with production maestro, DJ Koze, on music that’s steadily approaching completion. “The people who’ve heard it are really interested in it, so I think it’s gonna be a bit of a smasher.”

I did not see that word as bolthole on the first pass lol.
― Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 5 May 2021 03:40 (three years ago) link
She did two tracks on the last Koze album, I assume she's just doing a couple of things again
It's still "in print" digitally via Echo, who otherwise seem to only release physical material for Record Store Day, with BMGCAT instead of ECH cat #s, and then only of things that were on Warner, not Echo or any of their previous owners. Seems unlikely she'd have any sway in getting them to even press up 400 copies on "splatter vinyl" for RSD 2022.
― bobo honkin' slobo babe (sic), Wednesday, 5 May 2021 04:09 (three years ago) link
i had to check but last year she mentioned that the dj koze material is her next album that he's producing all of, very exciting

yo i'm sure everyone is familiar with "the rumble" but just in case...
raw as hell fulton production over which ms. murphy delivers a deep-diver's manifesto / epic poem about love.
the video is just like peak "this is why i can't wait to go clubbing again"

she's so wild about Koze in that interview that I hope Parrot doesn't read it, he'll feel like shit.

i loved the read on her ex-husband, pretty epic to say "i had to make my own music video because he told me i shouldn't, and by the way, here's his full name."

ha yes, that did read very New Relationship Energy. though she did release three-and-a-half hours of music by Parrot in the last year; I assume he's well aware that she she values him and his work.
― bobo honkin' slobo babe (sic), Wednesday, 5 May 2021 21:49 (three years ago) link
yeah it doesn't read negative towards parrot or anything, just that working with koze more is really exciting her because his approach is so different to what she did last with parrot. there are plenty of interviews where she's filled with praise for parrot and sounds just as excited about working with him

Hello, is that Great Britain talking?
It is, is that Germany? Come in, Germany. Over.
I was going to post " I don't know why this is so funny" but I know exactly why it is. It's funny because it's the stupid way you talk to people you know so well that you don't have to explain how stupid you're being, straight off the bat. And that seems like an excellent way to start a creative collaboration.
