Why the fuck are we being asked to put COVID on everything? Why did someone just die of pneumonia, and we have to write 'COVID'? Why did someone come in and have a heart attack, and we're being told to write 'COVID'?'
In retrospect, 'there is no such thing as a stupid question' is among the biggest lies I was told as a kid.

in general, I get bored with "noted dumbass spouts some dumbassery" pretty quickly but Sully always seems to be the exception to that rule; I will never tire of laughing at his stupid ass

This isn't complicated: COVID both is and is not a big deal, is and is not a killer, is and is not affecting the entire world, we should both wear masks and scoff at the need for masks. I don't know why you're confused about my position here. COVID is just like...everything, man, knowhuti'msayin'? (takes 45-second bong rip while wearing 'CRIMINALIZE THE POT' t-shirt)

I am pretty sure I have barely ever thought of Mumford & Sons, let alone who the random banjo player is. Gotta have some seriously fucked views to call that dude "brave," or just no idea at all at what Ngo's been up to outside of his terrible book over the years.
― grandavis, Saturday, 6 March 2021 20:43 (three years ago) link
Peterson was relatively functional as a shepherd slash daddy figure for a whole load of incel baby-fascists. but not so much now. would that this band had suffered the same fate
and if you're endorsing ngo you're basically a nazi and nothing should be off the table. if you didn't know what he's about you wouldn't know who he ias

Marshall was born in Wandsworth, London, England,[3] and is the son of Sabina De Balkany and Sir Paul Marshall, a British investor and co-founder of the Marshall Wace hedge fund.[4] His mother is of French origin.[5] Marshall was educated at St Paul's School, an independent school in London.[6] Marshall is an avid supporter of Manchester United F.C.[12] Marshall was in a band prior to Mumford & Sons called Captain Kick and the Cowboy Ramblers,[16] a bluegrass sleaze rap band,[17] in which he was credited as Country Winston and played the banjo and guitar.

(Jordan) Peterson posted a photo of himself with Lovett and bandmates Winston Marshall and Ted Dwane at their studio. It took a couple of months for the music press to notice it, but when they did there was a small outcry – and an opportunity for wags on social media to lay into the band (“I assumed they were, ‘My dad was a vicar’ Tory, not ‘concerned about white birthrates’ Tory,” quipped one Twitter user). Lovett is unapologetic. “I looked forward to having a conversation with him, but only because I wanted to have a conversation with as many people as possible,” he says, although he can’t remember what they actually talked about. ..He describes Peterson as “an intellectualist more than anything: I don’t think he particularly likes how political it is”. Mumford smirks back: “I think he loves it.”

In response to "I don't know why he is so into this but it's really worrying to me that it's automatically counted as a strike against someone" I would ask you: what do you know about Andy Ngo, what do you know about what his book is actually about, and what do you know about what he has gotten up to for a number of years that has led up to this book? If you know plenty about Andy Ngo and are asking that question then there isn't much to say. In my opinion calling Andy Ngo "brave" and his book "important" AFTER having read it isn't really a casual statement. You believe some terrible shit if you take Andy seriously (he lies fucking ALL THE TIME) or, worse, think that he is making these points in good faith and also agree with them (which it is hard to suggest this asshole doesn't since he is literally endorsing the book).
― grandavis, Sunday, 7 March 2021 14:59 (three years ago) link
