I thought the two-tone dark blue/darker blue Glider cover shirt was OK (I bought one)
― Chris Barrus (Elvis Telecom), Monday, 6 October 2008 18:46 (seventeen years ago)
Yeah, the t-shirts were a bit shite. The scalpers selling bootlegged ones outside the Roundhouse had much better wares.
― Calculus of Rock (Masonic Boom), Monday, 6 October 2008 18:50 (seventeen years ago)
tell me, are bootlegged concert shirts these days still covered in glitter?...oh, the Nazareth/Jethro Tull/Blue Oyster Cult seizure-inducing togs of yore!
― henry s, Monday, 6 October 2008 18:57 (seventeen years ago)

It's not glittery, but my "official" Spacemen 3 shirt I bought at the Spectrum show is silver-print on black. It's terrific!
― Chris Barrus (Elvis Telecom), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 04:12 (seventeen years ago)
the gray women's glider shirt was pretty cool - the pink overtones made it look like it was designed to be seen through 3d glasses. i ended up w/ the turquoise YMMR one, nice color at least.
oh and upthread, the song i was talking about was actually 'nothing much to lose', not 'you never should'
last thing - was anyone else slightly bummed out by some of the main melody lines being sequenced/pre-recorded and not played on guitar? ('i only said', for example) kevin played the woozy lead melody on 'come in alone' and i found myself wishing that they did the same on all of them. 'soon' w/ the spectrum dudes was nice :)

Apparently the remastered version of Loveless has leaked, a two disc set containing the original album and the remaster. Anyone know if it's for real this time, it's finally on it's way? (haven't heard it yet)
― Le Bateau Ivre, Saturday, 10 January 2009 15:22 (seventeen years ago)
i'll investigate, but the isn't anything remaster was amazing

promos were sent out to journalists for the original re-release date in the summer, see post upthread here:
The Return Of My Bloody Valentine
was a piece in the guardian on friday about loud gigs which, of course, mentioned mbv. can't find it online though.

Ah, figured it out. Schlump, you don't have those Isn't Anything remasters do you?
― chord simple (j.o.n.a), Saturday, 10 January 2009 20:29 (seventeen years ago)
i thought they were returning as a crappy slasher flick

In 3-D!
― Shmutchered at Shmirth (J3ff T.), Saturday, 10 January 2009 21:30 (seventeen years ago)
O man, if only that movie really were a 3D MBV performance (if goddam U2 can do it, hey, why not?)
― Pain don't hurt. (Pillbox), Saturday, 10 January 2009 21:35 (seventeen years ago)
I actually nearly tricked a friend of mine into going to see that with me by telling him that it was.
― Shmutchered at Shmirth (J3ff T.), Saturday, 10 January 2009 21:36 (seventeen years ago)
If you had been able to trick him, would you have actually gone to the film? It probably does suck, but having seen Beowulf last year, I'm of the opinion that the spectacle of digital 3-D alone is probably worth the admission price for any shitty film it happens to be applied to.
― Pain don't hurt. (Pillbox), Saturday, 10 January 2009 21:55 (seventeen years ago)
Oh, I still plan on going. I am all for 3-D slasher films. But it's probably not going to be as awesome (to get back to the subject) as an MBV concert film in 3-D would be.
― Shmutchered at Shmirth (J3ff T.), Saturday, 10 January 2009 22:12 (seventeen years ago)
here i was digging around for i.a., out of the kindness of my heart for a perfect stranger - i didn't see that it was for you, whatisup jona.
― schlump, Saturday, 10 January 2009 22:39 (seventeen years ago)
Ta Mark. Everything's good, like.
Anyway. MBV keep returning but no-one seems that bothered this year. They're playing Primavera in Barcelona (twice!, like what Portishead did last year, once outdoors and once indoors. Not sure what a fully seated indoor MBV gig would be like), and even that hasn't convinced me that I can really afford to go again.
― chord simple (j.o.n.a), Sunday, 11 January 2009 12:18 (seventeen years ago)
i thought it was pretty interesting that they're touring again; it means wheeling out their big p.a., which they mightn't do for just a couple of shows. they were set to record at the end of last year, so it's nice that they're doing things. i'd be surprised if they did another round of the same kind of touring, in the same places.
― schlump, Sunday, 11 January 2009 16:36 (seventeen years ago)
Looks like MBV is hitting Coachella this year (same night as Throbbing Gristle, oooh!) ... I definitely am not going, but, er, what are the chances of them doing more US dates around the same time? In Denver, maybe? Pleeze? With Throbbing Gristle? The chances are REALLY GOOD, right?
― tylerw, Friday, 30 January 2009 15:59 (seventeen years ago)
Yeah, I was wondering that myself. I presume no other 'official' SoCal appearance given how festival booking works. I'll be at EMP so I'll miss it, that said if this appearance means new songs, then I'll be jealous as hell. Damn glad I caught the earlier LA show!
― Ned Raggett, Friday, 30 January 2009 16:03 (seventeen years ago)
connecticut? yeah probably not
― k3vin k., Friday, 30 January 2009 16:04 (seventeen years ago)
Kraftwerk played a show in Denver a couple days before they played Coachella last year, so I'm crossing my fingers ...
― tylerw, Friday, 30 January 2009 16:04 (seventeen years ago)
Having missed them last year, due to truly unfortunate circumstances, I am willing to travel. Please come back, Kev.
― Ricky Apples (Pillbox), Friday, 30 January 2009 17:48 (seventeen years ago)
Oh the irony if MBV finally come to Seattle just before or after Ned is here for EMP Pop Music Conference
― System Jr. (Mackro Mackro), Friday, 30 January 2009 17:53 (seventeen years ago)
What, so Mike McG and I can both miss the show and compare non-notes? :-D
― Ned Raggett, Friday, 30 January 2009 17:59 (seventeen years ago)
Well, if the MBV come to the PacNW, I think there would be a Portland show. Although, many shows with more appreciate Portland fans have been Seattle-only, so I dunno. I kinda figure Portland is as much as shoegazer haven as it is a rivethead/goth haven.
― System Jr. (Mackro Mackro), Friday, 30 January 2009 19:16 (seventeen years ago)
GREAT story on MBV by occasional ILM lurker Josh Glazer in the coachella online mag (which is kind of annoying to navigate, but has some good articles)
http://www.coachelladigital.com/
I didn't have to enter anything to view it.

No shit. Is there really no "export text" option? Whatever the future of traditional print media might be: this isn't it.
― Atoms are "balls" (grimly fiendish), Thursday, 12 March 2009 15:43 (seventeen years ago)
Oh damn, a Seattle date on April 27th right near downtown.
― bacon = bad for the face + magic for the moobs (Mackro Mackro), Thursday, 12 March 2009 15:49 (seventeen years ago)
And it looks like the last U.S. date for MBV for the time being too
so is this band worth checking out?
― tylerw, Thursday, 12 March 2009 15:50 (seventeen years ago)

Just got mah tickets for the Austin show! Much cheaper than Leonard Cohen.

It's going to be much sweatier than the Leonard Cohen pit.
― f. hazel, Friday, 13 March 2009 05:18 (seventeen years ago)
But oh so much sweeter.
― ilxor, Friday, 13 March 2009 05:24 (seventeen years ago)
