I don't get waxahatchee at all and I like a lot of theoretically similar artists

oh the spanish remix is cooler, the guests really take it in an interesting direction. i would have voted for that

this was the first new waxahatchee material i've heard since out of the storm(?) and i can't say i love the new style as a bed for her voice

tbh I have long felt gaslit by the praise for their records so this outpouring of confusion is almost cathartic

i didn't vote for Fire but regular exposure to it in the playlist won me over. I didn't like it the first three times I listened to it but I put it into regular rotation for a few days and surprised myself.

Longtime ILXors are aware that the creator of one of our tied #55’s has been family here for years, but this board’s love for Owen’s music isn’t just a question of hometown pride. Pallett’s work has only gotten stronger and more themselves over the past fifteen years. Their 2020 LP Island is something of a journey; skating through the interstitials to explore the mysteries of each song means ducking and being decked by pinballing emotions inscrutable and aching, then being arrested by cutscenes of elven innocence and voices of experience. It’s a not-so-subtle reminder that Owen’s amalgamation of contemporary classical and video game structure has outlasted their Square one beginnings. The album is best experienced in its completion but, if you had to pick a single rose from the bouquet, you couldn’t do much better than this elegiac end-of-the-world call to dance and weep.

I think it's 100% criminal not to vote for ILX musicians in this poll because everyone who has posted their music here has been criminally, embarrassingly good at what they do, as evidenced by this song.

i am an absolute dumbass for sleeping on this album. nothing deliberate, just was waiting for the right mood to take me. that said i thought the alternate version of fire-mare, which i heard via the longlist, was amazing!
