When I've discussed w/r/t rap music, I've usually used the phrase "stop-and-start flow", but I dunno if anyone else does, or whether it can be used with non-rap.

Probably my favourite track on the Westerman album but there's lots of other good ones

loved the album, didn't vote for any tracks from it. (i did vote for "confirmation" last year, i believe)

do prefer this Moody Midtempo AOR to Destroyer's, give it that

can't decide whether this song is more peter gabrielle & sebastian or sade jens lekman

although the Eddie Chacon song was the closest I came to actually voting for some MMAOR

Westerman is new to me. This is lovely.

I liked "Supalonely", finding "Blue Comanche" a bit dull unfortunately.

The Westerman song is so lovely. I kind of group that album together with the Better Person and Choir Boy ones which both deserved more attention.

I do like Bullion in general, but i'd take Blue Pedro over Blue Comanche any day of the week

Though it remains the dominant musical force of our young century, there’s surprisingly little purist-identifiable hip hop in this year’s 77 Countdown. Even so, that genre has so completely infiltrated all of pop music that it’s easier to pick out the songs on here that DON’T have direct rap influence than vice versa. Board consensus aside, this was an undeniably good year for the form both stateside and internationally, as evidenced by this lasting lead single from UK drill star Headie One’s debut album.

i remain disconnected from grime but the headie one track is very good

I had "Ain't It Different" in my top 10, for actually making something worthwhile out of a song by my least favorite band of all time.

Also I had Westerman downballot (#24) for being the best indie pop track I've heard in years.

Hey, when you rip "Butterfly" and actually make it good that's a real achievement.

its not even grime really, uk drill is certainly its own thing

lol yeah as i typed that i was like "does this even qualify as grime", such is my disconnection

"ain't it different" is laid-back as far as drill goes, but it's certainly a drill beat

lol i'm so happy to encounter another song that samples "pretty little ditty"

Also it should be noted that "Supalonely" was a late cut from my ballot so I'm happy to see it here (this was a ridiculously good year for music - I cut songs from my ballot that would have been top 10 on my ballot last year).

I voted for the Weste Rman. Didn't rank my ballot, though

yeah "ain't it different" is definitely on the pop crossover end of the uk drill spectrum but that's the end i tend to enjoy the most

I neglected to nominate "Crimson Tide" which is a way better Destroyer song than "Cue Synthesizer" IMO
