fuuuuuuck

the serious avant-garde universalist right now (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 31 December 2020 21:49 (five years ago)

Like many people my age he was the gateway to hip-hop. I can't thank him enough.

Van Horn Street, Thursday, 31 December 2020 21:59 (five years ago)

this is completely unacceptable

flappy bird, Thursday, 31 December 2020 22:00 (five years ago)

I didn’t start getting really deep into his discography until this past year. So much great work sonically and lyrically rip

“Big” Don Abernathy, Thursday, 31 December 2020 22:03 (five years ago)

holy shit

fuck fuck fuck

Paul Ponzi, Thursday, 31 December 2020 22:03 (five years ago)

I think it hurts me more than usual because somehow he was mythic person, someone who sorta didn't exist, like a character underground hip-hop beamed into real life. He could not die. He was a superhero.

Van Horn Street, Thursday, 31 December 2020 22:05 (five years ago)

Listening to Take Me To Your Leader and it's mind blowing great and I don't even know if I would add it to my MF Doom top 5.

Van Horn Street, Thursday, 31 December 2020 22:08 (five years ago)

WTF?! He was still so young! RIP to one of the greatest to hold the mic.

Fetchboy, Thursday, 31 December 2020 22:11 (five years ago)

fucking fuck this year. RIP. all caps when you spell the man name

^ probably my personal favorite

“Big” Don Abernathy, Thursday, 31 December 2020 22:22 (five years ago)

Wow RIP MF. I can't begin to say how much this guy means to me. My first date with my wife was a DOOM show in 2004. She rode all the way with me from DC to Philly on a Monday night to see him. Some of his couplets never leave my mind no matter how much I'm currently listening to him. Just the other day in the McDondald's drive thru "oh my aching hands/from raking in grands/and breaking in mic stands." I felt very passionately about this guy in probably a very corny way, but I'll stand by it for life. Operation Doomsday is etched in my brain. The hunger he displays on that album, damn. And I haven't even started on his production skills.

On Doomsday! ever since the womb ‘til I'm back where my brother went that's what my tomb will say
Right above my government Dumile
Either unmarked or engraved hey who's to say

Heez, Thursday, 31 December 2020 22:24 (five years ago)

His output in early 2000s was my soundtrack while exploring NYC for the first time

(•̪●) (carne asada), Thursday, 31 December 2020 23:11 (five years ago)

A friend was involved in this single a couple of years ago, said he had nothing but awe for him as an artist and a person.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 1 January 2021 01:38 (five years ago)

Haven’t read too deeply into this but... he’s been dead for two months and this is just now coming out?

flopson, Friday, 1 January 2021 06:05 (five years ago)

For realz tho

(•̪●) (carne asada), Friday, 1 January 2021 06:30 (five years ago)

For some reason, am still dumbfounded by this. Obvs thats just death in general but it's just weird as he was relatively young. Hope we find out more in the next few weeks.

candyman, Friday, 1 January 2021 06:47 (five years ago)

‘Dumbfounded’ is the only place to be on this right now.

circa1916, Friday, 1 January 2021 06:57 (five years ago)

Just saw ppl listing madvillainy for a couple hundred on discogs lol

candyman, Friday, 1 January 2021 07:07 (five years ago)

Doom recorded most of that over a three week period in my apartment on my MPC, using my records. He never slept for more than 3-4 hours at a time. https://t.co/mjKDx4rSac

Brainfeeder's tribute to DOOM getting shut down for DMCA copyright violations is the ultimate "fuck 2020" end to this apocalyptic year.

Why? It’s not a rare record, it will probably get reissued anyways and anyone who cares already owns it.

✖✖✖ (Moka), Friday, 1 January 2021 09:30 (five years ago)

God knows.

Part of me is hoping this is a theatrical meta alias trick doom is playing

candyman, Friday, 1 January 2021 11:16 (five years ago)

Ah man, if anyone could get away with faking their own death

shabbat bloody shabbat (voodoo chili), Friday, 1 January 2021 13:11 (five years ago)

I still love that he dropped the beat to go acapella just to call himself Hip Hop’s Benny Hill. He was so much more than the villain

a hoy hoy, Friday, 1 January 2021 13:41 (five years ago)

He was never realy a villain

candyman, Friday, 1 January 2021 13:57 (five years ago)
