he's probably outgrown mom management and based on his first public apology being from inside lil bow wows batcave bowling alley i don thtink it's a stretch to say that it's a direct reference to the rihanna situation - what else is he saying? "oops! im rich as hell!"?

ruffalo stance (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 8 July 2009 04:57 (sixteen years ago)

also i agree, i would like to see chris brown get beat up unmercifully and i for one really love his music - beating a woman that badly and then having no discernible remorse is just beyond despicable

ruffalo stance (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 8 July 2009 04:58 (sixteen years ago)

who are you to say that he has no remorse? I mean, I don't get the calls for him to "apologize" - i'm sure he's apologized to rihanna and that's really all that matters.. and he's been through the legal system and has been dealt his punishment.. honestly what more do you want from him?

Monday Nite Tranny Party (The Brainwasher), Wednesday, 8 July 2009 05:00 (sixteen years ago)

i don't necessarily think he needs to beg the public's forgiveness, but he's carried the whole thing relly petulantly, like he can't believe anyone's holding it against him (i.e. that video where he plugs his albuma nd goes "everybody that's hataz, they just been hataz")

I would like him to become a mod on ILX and ban you

tbqf fridays (Whiney G. Weingarten), Wednesday, 8 July 2009 05:03 (sixteen years ago)

and honestly though I've never been a fan of Chris, the whole BET Awards situation - if the Jay-Z rumors are true - is majorly fucked up.. Chris would've been the perfect person to pay tribute to MJ, and it has been said that the Jackson family requested Chris for the show, so really I don't get why they would pull him because of Jay-Z... I mean, who cares about Jay-Z anyway? And the BET Awards would've at least been somewhat watchable if he had performed.... it was disastrous.

Monday Nite Tranny Party (The Brainwasher), Wednesday, 8 July 2009 05:03 (sixteen years ago)

who needed to see him do a MJ routine again? go watch a rerun of the '07 VMAs.

Turnswagonesque (some dude), Wednesday, 8 July 2009 05:05 (sixteen years ago)

shipley otm

ruffalo stance (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 8 July 2009 05:06 (sixteen years ago)

on all fronts

ruffalo stance (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 8 July 2009 05:06 (sixteen years ago)

there are like a dozen other R&B singers who have sold as many records as Chris Brown that are as big or bigger MJ stans than he is, and many of them performed that night, so who gives a fuck if he wasn't there to represent with Usher and Ginuwine?

Turnswagonesque (some dude), Wednesday, 8 July 2009 05:06 (sixteen years ago)

Well I would've rather seen Chris pay tribute than have Ciara "sing" 'Heal The World'...

Monday Nite Tranny Party (The Brainwasher), Wednesday, 8 July 2009 05:08 (sixteen years ago)

well fuck if i saw the show, i don't know if some competent mimicry would've been an improvement, i'm just saying.

Turnswagonesque (some dude), Wednesday, 8 July 2009 05:08 (sixteen years ago)

i would've rather done anything else than watch bet's tribute to michael jackson - oh wait, that's exactly what i did

ruffalo stance (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 8 July 2009 05:09 (sixteen years ago)

well good for you

Monday Nite Tranny Party (The Brainwasher), Wednesday, 8 July 2009 05:09 (sixteen years ago)

I for one was looking forward to the tribute and it was really awful on a number of levels, I think Chris would've been a nice addition to it.

Monday Nite Tranny Party (The Brainwasher), Wednesday, 8 July 2009 05:10 (sixteen years ago)

i'm just sayin...it's one thing to be a little bit of a dick about it (like he's been) but then to go out and buy a chain that ostensibly says LOOK I DID IT AND NOW I'm LAUGHING ABOUT IT in 300 grand worth of diamond is like a whole new level of malice

.rar .rar riot (surfboard dudes get wiped out, totally), Wednesday, 8 July 2009 05:13 (sixteen years ago)

^^ yes

Turnswagonesque (some dude), Wednesday, 8 July 2009 05:14 (sixteen years ago)

also, i'm not saying the kid should never get to sell a record again, or that his tribute to MJ wouldn't have been well done and sincere, i just think that him going on TV for that and doing the stupid Game song could've been his attempt to use this whole thing as an opportunity to sneak out of the penalty box and sail back into the public's good graces, which is gross.

Turnswagonesque (some dude), Wednesday, 8 July 2009 05:15 (sixteen years ago)

is it really one thing to be a little bit of a dick about it? - i mean you'd think the mindset would be "wow people are acting like dicks to me, but then again i did beat my girlfriend senselessly for no reason whatsoever"

ruffalo stance (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 8 July 2009 05:16 (sixteen years ago)

I don't really know of anything he's done that has been so bad in response (clearly not defending the actual act, of course) so maybe I missed something...but it just seems like it's so moronically un-self aware that it must be impossible

.rar .rar riot (surfboard dudes get wiped out, totally), Wednesday, 8 July 2009 05:18 (sixteen years ago)

he pretty much got away with it. save losing the doublemint sponsorship bawww

tbqf fridays (Whiney G. Weingarten), Wednesday, 8 July 2009 05:21 (sixteen years ago)

I honestly think it means OOPS I SPENT 300K ON A CHAIN. seriously.

.rar .rar riot (surfboard dudes get wiped out, totally), Wednesday, 8 July 2009 05:22 (sixteen years ago)

it's a post T-Pain big ass chain chain...he set a precedent for meta-chains

.rar .rar riot (surfboard dudes get wiped out, totally), Wednesday, 8 July 2009 05:23 (sixteen years ago)

Honestly, I find his misuse of resources that could put a small graduating class through four years of college more despicable and offensive than a poorly thought out slogan on a garish piece of junk. Fuck's sake: if he had written "I'M SORRY" in burning hundred dollar bills stacked five feet high, it would be just as ugly, stupid, hateful and egotistical as this obscenity.

FREE DOM AND ETHAN (special guest stars mark bronson), Wednesday, 8 July 2009 13:54 (sixteen years ago)

i don't think the Chris Browns of the world are on the Kanye/Gaga "THIS IS POP ART" train yet, but they probably will be by the year's end, so hey

Turnswagonesque (some dude), Wednesday, 8 July 2009 14:00 (sixteen years ago)

modern pantheon: marilyn, james dean, elvis, john lennon, mj whatever

pomopantheon more like: jay, britney, b, lohan... people who are better known and adored by more people than say, stephen hawking, and who (think they can /actually get to) live in a world above and beyond moral imperative

it's early in the morning for me and i've been reading grant morrison; I may be spouting bullshit. hence the /dimestore tag

thank you, dimestore tag darrell

some dude, Brown was absolutely headed that route; I may be putting too much weight on the "ANDY WARHOL IS DEAD" shirt breezy wore in the Freeze video. Actually fuck that: everybody's embracing superfatuous superflat at the moment. Not having meaning is the new having meaning.

Why? I forget what biologists have suggested. (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 8 July 2009 14:02 (sixteen years ago)

haha i forgot about that shirt, maybe my estimation was off by a few months

Turnswagonesque (some dude), Wednesday, 8 July 2009 14:03 (sixteen years ago)

real talk your post about Kanye's pomo bullshit in the 808s thread was some truth bomb shit to me, so i'm not fronting on your ideas at all

Turnswagonesque (some dude), Wednesday, 8 July 2009 14:04 (sixteen years ago)

fwiw I thought you just wanted to make a Dimebag Darrell joke (because I did and I am king of projection)

needs to break out a 'ike turner is dead' shirt before he truly makes the pomo grade.

oh my god i just refreshed the page and saw the updated "1 year passes"
"1 week passes" that appear to have been newly implemented and I thought I had accidentally clicked to another thread and someone WAS QUOTING THIS THREAD in some sort of an odd way and I had a moment of psychotropic freakout

Why? I forget what biologists have suggested. (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 8 July 2009 14:06 (sixteen years ago)

xp, didn't think you were dude. i blame kanye for a lot. proving there was a market for this stuff condemned us all to have to repeat it for the next few years

kanye is like a super virus worming his way through all of hip hop and r&b turning everyone into passive aggressive bitches that dress like breakdance movie extras

I can't tell if that ruins or saves "The Matrix"

xp yes and to think that some people dared to claim that ANDRE 3000 was to blame...so is it safe to say that the SOft Serve Space Age Raps has given way to pomo trappings in the greater pop landscape? Are all our popstars going to be walking superflat vacuums of unaware fastuousness

.rar .rar riot (surfboard dudes get wiped out, totally), Wednesday, 8 July 2009 16:42 (sixteen years ago)

Are all our popstars going to be walking superflat vacuums of unaware fastuousness

um for the most part this is how pop stars have been since the beginning of pop

Apollo C. Vermouth (Shakey Mo Collier), Wednesday, 8 July 2009 16:43 (sixteen years ago)

besides a few have any gone so far as to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on completely meaningless yet totally meta and sefl-referantial walking advertisements of their own vapid postmodernism? like a BIG ASS CHAIN chain or an OOPS chain?
