Austin, think of it like the Grammy Awards (an institution that I know you revere)—sometimes deserving artists are denied recognition, or their recognition is delayed, but we’re all happy for the artists when it arrives!― Qui-Gon's Noble End (morrisp), Thursday, December 24, 2020 11:38 AM

i start to question whether not i like them anymore when people i like win grammies. it's like a fucking virus.

Maybe you can get the vaccine prior to Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021, and enjoy the broadcast on CBS!

i've said it before but Grammys = money + clout to the artist, both immediately and for life, so you should never be sad when somebody you like wins a grammy. you can be sad they exist though!

The weird thing about Pitchfork ignoring Sault until now is not just that they would seem to be in Pitchfork's wheelhouse, but also it's not like they're super-obscure anymore. They were #1 on NPR's best of 2020 list and also showed up on the Slate and Entertainment Weekly lists.
― jaymc, Thursday, 24 December 2020 23:31 (three years ago) link
first i heard of them was when they started turning up on eoy lists

Prob slipped through the cracks and it’s too embarrassing to be among the last to be excited (stubbornly they want to be the ones to break an act) so they give it a solid score but nothing to attention grabbing. Just enough to show they weren’t left behind completely. AKA they’re saulty about being late.

― Evan, Friday, 25 December 2020 00:39 (three years ago) link
I mean I wouldn’t be mad at that score if it was timed right lol but now it looks salty so not only are you late but you’re late and seem mad abt it whereas if you’re on time you can help shape the conversation, bring up relevant skepticisms, without seeming like your score is brand protection or whatever

Honestly, they may have benefited from being reviewed together (admittedly some time after the fact), as the pair of albums scored higher than each Taylor Swift album did individually. (Taylor’s albums likely would have earned a higher combined score if they were reviewed as a twofer.)

Hanes Premium Black Label Men's Papaya Trunks 3pkSome of the best songs in rock history have been written in a daze from bed. That’s why comfortable boxer briefs, like these Papaya Trunks by Hanes, are perfect for all musicians and aspiring songwriters alike. Because whether or not you can carry a tune, you still deserve good underwear. Even the most hardcore punks would likely agree.

Do they usually run this long into January with only two reviews a day? I know they always slow way down for the holidays and immediately after, but I'm not sure if this intentional or a reflection of the post-holiday new release trickle.

xp They do publish well-written reviews (which are praised in this thread) in addition to the head-scratchers; and there would be even more good reviews to commend if they printed more stuff. Is it even a “full-time” publication (whatever that means)?

Huh, their Twitter feed is crazy active (multiple tweets per hour); but they’re tweeting out a mix of recent and older—from 2019, in some cases—articles & reviews.

The context of my surprise is the discussion at hand—I expected to see a few tweets per day, to reflect their publishing schedule. But all the recycling doesn’t seem to hurt their Twitter engagement (who are these readers replying to a old features & reviews; did they miss them the first time around?).
― one of the only artist who is genuine (morrisp), Monday, 18 January 2021 22:59 (three years ago) link
there's a lot of data to suggest that's what you should do, tweet things over and over at certain intervals, only a small portion of your followers actually sees a particular tweet, if they aren't on when it is posted it just gets swept by in the feedit's kind of annoying but understand the logic

That’s interesting; I’ve always been the type to read every tweet in my TL (but I don’t follow a zillion accounts or only check infrequently, as others must).
