Like, the guy obv sucks, but it's not necessary to make up stories about him or pretend that he's talentless when there's more than enough incontrovertible evidence out there making the case

I kinda doubt that story is true, or even if, it seems heavily exaggerated in its retelling.

I don't find it that hard to believe, I've read quite a few stories of musicians of all stripes not reacting well to fans in the front row distracting them or not sufficiently enjoying the show.

The best part of that evening is not on video. Love apparently had (has?) a habit of taking off his shoes during performances. While the end-of-the-night all-star jam was happening, Mick Jagger stole Love’s shoes.

Also, I was in Rite-Aid earlier and Kokomo came on the in-house radio there. That was a little unnerving in itself...

Omigosh that was something else... ok, the nachos thing is obv 500 percent true; i was wrong to question it.

Watching that speech my initial thought was, wow, he is so effortlessly creepy, it's kind of amazing... i did not anticipate the insulting his peers and then transitioning into we're all one TM glurge parts. Wow... also notable how similar it is to elememts of trump's rhetorical style during his rally speeches.

mike love is one of the rare people for whom a convincing case could be made that they would be a more sadistic and unhinged president than donald j. trump imo

I met Bruce n Mike one time ‘backstage’ at a rich boomer party at the Peabody hotel. a high school homie was their publicist for a bit in the late oughts. It was all of an 11 minute encounter but Bruce came off way more dickish.

One of the writers in a local alt-weekly gave a bad review to their 1992 album Summer in Paradise. He soon met Bruce Johnston, who told him that his review didn't count because he was a millionaire and the writer was not.

Props to the one guy in the back respecting the BBs striped heritage

John Cowsill was a beast on the 50th anniversary tour, made it clear why he was the only guy that got brought over from Mike's band for his playing / singing.

(Mike's bandleader / guitarist was the only other guy brought over at all, and I'm sure he did heroic work as a mediator & played well, but the Wondermints dude just stayed home to make room for Cowsill.)

I don't remember who was in the band when I saw that 50th show (besides the Beach Boys and Wondermints guy(s)), but I do know there were like 8 guitars on stage, and they didn't need 8 guitars.

Was just thinking the other day that one of the many unusual things about the Beach Boys is that there are so many songs *about* surfing and surf culture, but not much actual surf music.

Seems like everyone likes Carl, but that maybe Brian is actually the most polarizing BB, for varying reasons

There are definitely Mike Love stans out there.

Think that guy says he started that page because other BB sites were either Mike-leaning sites or Brian-leaning sites and he is tilting at the windmill of splitting the difference. He also goes into some Brian vs. Carl beefing that I didn't really know about.

The Beach Boys are basically the Ship of Theseus now.
