attn spottie, what do you think of the new acceptance album

i had no idea it existed until tim f told me about it today but i'm really surprisingly about the springsteenian shift in their sound

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Wednesday, 14 October 2020 20:03 (five years ago)

warning for the general emo thread population, the acceptance record may exceed the limits of earnestness normally tolerated by the emo thread

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Wednesday, 14 October 2020 20:28 (five years ago)

i listened to the black foxxes record twice in a row today, it's the real deal

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Wednesday, 14 October 2020 22:01 (five years ago)

I'm generally a big fan of most anything Brad recommends but this:

and the final track eventually works itself into a gish-era-sp-type jam

reallllllly sold me.

soaring skrrrtpeggios (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Wednesday, 14 October 2020 22:03 (five years ago)

listened to that acceptance album yesterday, thx brad. i think its ok, about half good. i get a lot of killers sound from it.

Spottie, Thursday, 15 October 2020 17:30 (five years ago)

about half good is where i landed as well, but that half is real good

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Thursday, 15 October 2020 17:33 (five years ago)

dark age through wildfires is the highlight for me.

Spottie, Thursday, 15 October 2020 18:28 (five years ago)

The Black Foxxes album isn't out yet, is it?

New Touché Amoré is really hitting the spot!

Ilxor in the streets, Scampo in the sheets (Le Bateau Ivre), Friday, 16 October 2020 08:59 (five years ago)

An emotional rock trio from Devon eh

Chip-vill-A (imago), Friday, 16 October 2020 09:05 (five years ago)

Devonians have feelings too

Ilxor in the streets, Scampo in the sheets (Le Bateau Ivre), Friday, 16 October 2020 09:08 (five years ago)

And theories. Simulation theories

Chip-vill-A (imago), Friday, 16 October 2020 09:11 (five years ago)

OIC

Ilxor in the streets, Scampo in the sheets (Le Bateau Ivre), Friday, 16 October 2020 09:14 (five years ago)

black foxxes record is out oct 30

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Friday, 16 October 2020 12:44 (five years ago)

you'd best have sold it accurately lol

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Friday, 16 October 2020 22:51 (five years ago)

lj you should listen to "badlands" and find out

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Friday, 16 October 2020 23:00 (five years ago)

Oh this vocalist!!

Chip-vill-A (imago), Friday, 16 October 2020 23:33 (five years ago)

This is one of the most instantly arresting vocal presences in a while. The music is that good 90s stuff, as advertised

Chip-vill-A (imago), Friday, 16 October 2020 23:34 (five years ago)

Holy shit what has this turned into

Chip-vill-A (imago), Friday, 16 October 2020 23:38 (five years ago)

exactly

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Friday, 16 October 2020 23:54 (five years ago)

so the best two emo bands in the world have 'fox' in the name then

Chip-vill-A (imago), Friday, 16 October 2020 23:55 (five years ago)

looking forward to "badlands" placing in the 77 and everyone getting mad at me

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Saturday, 17 October 2020 00:41 (five years ago)

I will join that quest

I’m strictly Electronic/minimal (the totally opposite) but I feel I have stumbled upon a track that the rock heads would die for😂

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Saturday, 17 October 2020 01:22 (five years ago)

lol i noted that one too

Chip-vill-A (imago), Saturday, 17 October 2020 09:31 (five years ago)

finally got around to the touché amoré, this is fucking great

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Tuesday, 20 October 2020 22:45 (five years ago)

i really liked stage four but this feels like the big leap

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Tuesday, 20 October 2020 22:46 (five years ago)

Ross Robinson, emo king

it bangs for thee (Simon H.), Tuesday, 20 October 2020 22:54 (five years ago)

I'll stand behind that. Relationship of Command, Burn Piano Island, and now Lament. He has a lot of credits under his belt that I don't care for but its undeniable that he had a major role in some of my absolute favorite albums ever made.

gman59, Wednesday, 21 October 2020 19:36 (five years ago)

soupy from the wonder years confirmed the fireworks album is coming out this year. i sure hope so

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Sunday, 25 October 2020 16:55 (five years ago)

soupy from the wonder years had best not be lying

it bangs for thee (Simon H.), Sunday, 25 October 2020 22:51 (five years ago)

brad you were not lying about the Black Foxxes album! what a huge step up for them.

it bangs for thee (Simon H.), Thursday, 29 October 2020 17:10 (five years ago)

Is it out? I'll happily listen to Badlands on repeat for 50m if not

imago, Thursday, 29 October 2020 19:25 (five years ago)

Oh I have to wait 4 hours, grr

imago, Thursday, 29 October 2020 19:36 (five years ago)

Yeah, this is great, even if Badlands towers above all

imago, Friday, 30 October 2020 11:19 (five years ago)

weirdly I'm only not totally sold on the epic closer? otherwise this is definitely scratching the neo-90s-altrock itch that Wolf Alice does for me

it bangs for thee (Simon H.), Saturday, 31 October 2020 22:44 (five years ago)

inner space rock

imago, Sunday, 1 November 2020 05:56 (five years ago)

it is a bit Radiohead for me to completely love it but I can see why Brad likes Panic so much, haha. And that last minute is an almighty payoff

the first four tracks are my favourite stretch because I'm an instant gratification junkie lol

imago, Sunday, 1 November 2020 15:22 (five years ago)

but that was the case with the Foxing album as well and I ended up loving all of it

imago, Sunday, 1 November 2020 15:23 (five years ago)

the fox bands need to do an album together

imago, Sunday, 1 November 2020 15:23 (five years ago)

I also really like the closing track but my favourite bit of it is the songy opening stretch

imago, Sunday, 1 November 2020 15:46 (five years ago)

two weeks pass...

update: I have now listened to Black Foxxes a frankly embarrassing number of times

it bangs for thee (Simon H.), Tuesday, 17 November 2020 14:18 (five years ago)

^^^same

imago, Tuesday, 17 November 2020 16:55 (five years ago)

Is there not a way to get a physical version of that Black Foxxes record in the US? Even when I go to their website and click on the literal pictures of the LP or CD versions in their shop, it kicks me to a link that only takes me to streaming/digital ways to get it.

soaring skrrrtpeggios (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Tuesday, 17 November 2020 17:18 (five years ago)

it appears we have not talked about this band in this thread:

https://clearbody.bandcamp.com/album/one-more-day-2

album out Friday, good chunky rumbling, slightly dreamy punk/emo with vocals that remind me of other (older) bands but i can't quite place ... especially the use of looooooong, held out notes/syllables. i feel like there's a really close 80s/90s analog, but i'm having trouble figuring it out.

alpine static, Tuesday, 1 December 2020 16:31 (five years ago)

a very fun and economical pop-punk/emo album from this year I had missed: Teenage Halloween's s/t

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vyT1iHP28q0

it bangs for thee (Simon H.), Tuesday, 8 December 2020 19:28 (five years ago)

four weeks pass...

Also no mention itt of this catchy punky poppy record that is seriously growing on me 9 months after its release:

https://hotmulligan.bandcamp.com/album/youll-be-fine

Also ... did I miss the 2021 thread?

alpine static, Tuesday, 5 January 2021 22:58 (five years ago)

Not sure of the protocol with the jump to the new thread, but finally got around to the Black Foxxes record. This is terrific. I haven't kept up with everything itt, but this and the new Ratboys records were huge discoveries for me this year thanks to you folks.
