after one listen between no things is easily among the best things i've heard this year, just stunningly beautiful, wide and deep

Between No Things is wonderful. I could listen to the Weak Wheel of the World for a, uh, week.

Vanishing Point (Chinaski), Wednesday, 16 September 2020 09:09 (five years ago)

Happy to see David Moufang on here. Looks as though my long-dreamed about Fax revival is right around the corner

No pre-order link as of yet, I guess?

Paul Ponzi, Wednesday, 16 September 2020 10:28 (five years ago)

If you like Between No Things and slept on Suso's Nothing Is Objective, check it out because it is also fantastic.

Psyched for this. Tracklisting looks great except for the Primitive Painter track. I just can't get past that Voodoo Ray sample they used lol. Anyway, props to Jamie Tiller for putting this together.

millmeister, Wednesday, 21 October 2020 20:40 (five years ago)

Hazy memory but I think I have APL - The Calling on one of the Ambient Dub comps though I think it might be a different mix? That guy's two tracks on that are an absolute highlight for me though iirc. Stoked for this comp if everything is of that standard.

BTW if anyone is buying anything from Juno in the near future, do yourself a favour and stick a copy of the Javier Bergia comp CD in your basket cos they're selling it for 99p at the moment. Very MFM adjacent - he was a member of Finas Africae, so if you know them, you'll know to expect top stuff

The Virtual Dreams: Ambient Explorations in the House & Techno Age 1993-1997 is out (and on Spotify if that's your thing). It's good! Tuomas mentioned on another thread that it's kind of what you'd expect really but that's more than fine.

Vanishing Point (Chinaski), Saturday, 19 December 2020 11:07 (five years ago)

Looks like the physical version got pushed back to February, but I've been looking forward to this one. The Pulusha and Space Time Continuum tracks alone are worth the price.

Coming out on her own label this month. Music From Memory releasing the vinyl I believe. Last year's 'Roll with the punches' was ace.

millmeister, Tuesday, 5 January 2021 10:23 (five years ago)

Love the artwork too.

Clips are sounding good!

paolo, Tuesday, 5 January 2021 16:21 (five years ago)

I'd love to get my paws on a copy of this one but unless it gets repressed that's probably not going to happen :(

Awesome! Yeah that 12” ended up being one of my favorite releases of last year.

Karl Malone, Tuesday, 5 January 2021 16:58 (five years ago)

clips sounds great, intriguing. Her track on this is great as well: https://wearerhythmsection.bandcamp.com/track/233-2

Thanks for the tip. Just purchased.
'Roll with the punches' was released in 2019 my mistake.

millmeister, Tuesday, 5 January 2021 17:44 (five years ago)

Definitely excited for this one.

dogs, Sunday, 24 January 2021 12:55 (five years ago)

Maybe I need to spend more time with it, but didn't have the same immediate impact as Roll With The Punches for me.

MikoMcha, Sunday, 24 January 2021 14:20 (five years ago)

May be of interest to people who enjoy MFM stuff - our man Suso Saiz is on it for instance. Looks pretty good imo:

love that track- sounds like a unique collection

Evan, Saturday, 6 February 2021 04:50 (five years ago)

that Yu Su album is almost great, I wish it just had a little less going on.

boxedjoy, Saturday, 6 February 2021 11:12 (five years ago)

haha I feel that way about a lot of albums these days!

brimstead, Saturday, 6 February 2021 17:43 (five years ago)

I've only heard "Xiu," which I think is fantastic, and if I could find a way to get this shipped to the US for under $40 I'd have already bought it on the basis of this track alone. Instead, I'll check out the rest to make sure I really need it.

Paul Ponzi, Saturday, 6 February 2021 18:14 (five years ago)

Yeah, take the time first! I like it, but stylistic it’s so varied that it makes it tough to recommend

Roll With the Punches was very consistent

This is exceptional, can't find a scrap of info on the artist anywhere tho, sadly.

I'm loving this new comp of 80s Spanish ambient on the Swiss label Bongo Joe. Exactly the kind of thing I expect from MfM.

I wasn't really sure where to put this but it has that 80s 'woody' sound and this seems a good a place as any: jazz album from 1983, with synthesizers and vibes, much of which wouldn't sound out of place on a Gigi record/DJ set.

Western is particularly lovely: https://larrychernicoff.bandcamp.com/track/western

Vanishing Point (Chinaski), Tuesday, 25 May 2021 18:38 (five years ago)

Thanks for the heads-up!
Sort of sounds somewhere btw Penguin Cafe Orchestra and Mother Mallard/David Borden (looks like I already had this Chernicoff album wantlisted on Discogs though, yet another sign of listening to too much music)

Alongside his trio collab with the younger Dutch residents as Gaussian Curve, am still holding out for a synth duo album on, say, Sacred Bones (or MFM, ha) btw Masin and A. Howarth, if only so that they could be billed as Gigi/Alan

Kangol In The Light (Craig D.), Tuesday, 25 May 2021 20:41 (five years ago)

Yes, good shout on the PCO! I don't know Mother Mallard/Borden - will have a listen.

Vanishing Point (Chinaski), Tuesday, 25 May 2021 21:01 (five years ago)

Gigi/Alan

well played
