I actually really like these compilations (I got them back in the day), they give a good overview of the band's output for those (like me) who find a whole album's worth of Coil a bit much.

Sara Dale's Sensual Massage was a delightful erotic video with a mystic soundtrack by Coil. Quite unusual for the band dreamy ambient, almost spa-relaxed soft harmonies, bland tribal rhythms, chimes, and birdsong but still with dark mysterious and inimitable Coil musick's charm.
However, the second part of the album explores more rhythmic structures that remind 'Gay Man's Guide...' soundtrack.

Besides the OST recordings, the edition includes bonus tracks from the "Basilisk prod.'s" era: “Theme From Blue”, and grandiose "The Hills Are Alive" so badly wanted on vinyl.

This sounds wonderful on my new vinyl. Not sure I remember those deep drones on Broccoli before. There is a quality in Coil I don't hear in other bands and I think it's probably witchcraft. I may have had a drink.

The art book just arrived and it's 1. massive + heavy 2. high quality 3. lots and lots and lots of content, some of which felt very personal (Sleazy replying to a fan letter from Geoff requesting to see a video of Sleazy getting pierced etc = I presume this would have been their very first meeting?)

sleeve: what liner notes were you looking for 2 weeks ago? MTPITD doesn't have any? (my original CD has the track titles + A Chalice Recording / Graal CD002 on the back (the word Red in red, twice), then a multicolored ring on the inner artwork with john balance, thighpaulsandra, peter christopherson, drew mcdowall around it, and that's it for notes)

xps StanM it's extremely frustrating, but they did write liner notes talking about the MTPITD songs specifically, and they used to be online. They were not included in the actual release.

Can you remember what website they were on? maybe check archive.org?

90% sure they used to be on the damn Brainwashed site! SO frustrating, I remember they described "Red Birds" as "99% Thighpaulsandra" for example. Just a paragraph or two about each song.

wiki says she did a TV commercial for the Bristol & West Building Society that he worked on, presumably that's the connection.

I'd guess he would have had interactions with the artists Hipgnosis worked with too? Don't know if there's any pics of him with UFO or the Scorpions or whoever though.
