Of all the albums I came back to for review in this poll, I think All for You is the one that most pleasantly surprised me. So many songs that I had written off as B-minus Jam/Lewis/Jackson material, so many songs right up there with the peaks of the prior four studio albums.

All for You had a first-place vote (from me) I believe? I could never be convinced it's not her best at this point, much as I love that top four.

Crap, yup, All For You actually had two first-place votes. No other album had any first-place votes, tho if I’m to be honest, on any other day I could’ve tossed my top spot to janet.

The album results were pretty much expected. I have a lot of time for Velvet Rope but I've never quite understood why so many people rate it as her best. I didn't end up putting it in my top five.

Happy to see All For You have good amount of support. As others have said, that album was a bit of a revelation when revising before voting. Same goes for Damita Jo which ended up taking a few spots on my tracks list. It's such a beautiful and breezy listen with barely any filler.

some of the production/guitar playing on this record is as lush as anything in her discography... the stretch from "like you don't love me" (great song) thru "moist" is colored by these curlicue guitar lines that kinda snake up like steam from a grate.
