altho u might have a point -- this song does include the lyrics "drink mountain dew"

zzz (deej), Monday, 29 June 2009 00:43 (sixteen years ago)

and why not? it is a refreshing drink that exhilarates and quenches with its one-of-a-kind great taste®

the shock will be coupled with the need to dance (jim), Monday, 29 June 2009 00:45 (sixteen years ago)

Does anyone know if Dr. Pepper needs some acid house joints? Seriously, I need a new car.

Green Label Sound woot woot.

BleepBot, Monday, 29 June 2009 05:17 (sixteen years ago)

just not feeling that holy ghost track. music's kinda generic and vocals kinda bug

(jaxon) ( .) ( .) (jaxon), Monday, 29 June 2009 05:38 (sixteen years ago)

yeah i like it ok but its def not as good as 'hold on'

zzz (deej), Monday, 29 June 2009 08:07 (sixteen years ago)

the black meteoric star album is so A+

lex pretend, Monday, 29 June 2009 08:13 (sixteen years ago)

Ha ha, Lex stay out of my record collection. You'll be liking dronerock next!

Violent In Design (Masonic Boom), Monday, 29 June 2009 08:23 (sixteen years ago)

the holy ghost! track isn't nu-disco it's straight up synth-pop which is a fine thing but the track, especially the vocal, kind of sucks. i agree with jaxon.

(jaxon) ( .) ( .) (jaxon), Monday, 29 June 2009 15:47 (sixteen years ago)

eh, i like it a lot....but the 'possibly better than Hold On' comment doesn't hold up, i'll admit

Malcolm Money, Tuesday, 30 June 2009 13:04 (sixteen years ago)

two weeks pass...

just out of interest, who is releasing the altair nouveau single outside of the USA?

phillippa minge (electricsound), Tuesday, 14 July 2009 23:42 (sixteen years ago)

oh hey didn't notice this. the UK 12" is on Solar Disco (and has Space Fortress plus two remixes).

Chinavision (altair nouveau), Wednesday, 15 July 2009 23:36 (sixteen years ago)

reason i ask is that i can't seem to buy it digitally in AUS from anywhere, not even my usual holdouts like boomkat, which is extremely disappointing

phillippa minge (electricsound), Wednesday, 15 July 2009 23:37 (sixteen years ago)

hmm... it looks like it's available as a combo (all the tracks on the dfa release plus the remixes) at www.junodownload.com, but I dunno if that applies in Australia as well.

Chinavision (altair nouveau), Wednesday, 15 July 2009 23:57 (sixteen years ago)

don't know why i didn't check juno, thanks! <3

phillippa minge (electricsound), Thursday, 16 July 2009 00:09 (sixteen years ago)

john daly remix = i am there

easily-led zeppelin (haitch), Thursday, 16 July 2009 01:54 (sixteen years ago)

old from the dfa: is the DFA remix of the rock by delakota by *the* DFA? can't find much about it online so not sure when the remix was released. it's not very good, but i could upload it someplace if anyone fancies a listen

NI, Saturday, 18 July 2009 20:53 (sixteen years ago)

sorry for the diversion but here's a great piece about the original by ilx's own nick southall: http://www.stylusmagazine.com/articles/seconds/delakota-the-rock.htm

nick, do you know about this dfa remix?

NI, Saturday, 18 July 2009 20:59 (sixteen years ago)

There's a 'No Hand Shakes' remix on the 12" by Tim Goldsworthy of DFA, it might be that? Speeded-up vocals? I just found that Stylus piece too whilst googling..

j.o.n.a, Saturday, 18 July 2009 21:10 (sixteen years ago)

ahh, that makes sense - i found the mp3 on soulseek so i guess someone must have renamed it. i wonder what else goldsworthy was remixing back then.

NI, Saturday, 18 July 2009 22:08 (sixteen years ago)

i recall he did an amazing remix (and production work?) on david holmes' "don't die just yet", and he did the "unkle situation" remix of karmacoma, which is fantastic too

moonship journey to baja, Saturday, 18 July 2009 22:17 (sixteen years ago)

http://www.discogs.com/artist/Tim+Goldsworthy

There's a great remix of Dawn of the Replicants' Skullcrusher from around then too - I think it's credited to David Holmes but I'm guessing it's as much Goldsworthy's work as he was his main engineer/producer/whatever guy back then.

j.o.n.a, Saturday, 18 July 2009 22:26 (sixteen years ago)

^ think I still have this in a box and have not got around to listening yet, seven years after buying

stir-mounter (sic), Sunday, 19 July 2009 00:45 (sixteen years ago)

i seem to recall that the (sick) UNKLE mix of 'vitamin c' by can, from that remixes comp, was his work also - discogs suggest he was no longer part of UNKLE at that stage though. maybe it was done before he left. seek it out in any case.

easily-led zeppelin (haitch), Sunday, 19 July 2009 03:27 (sixteen years ago)

i always thought that remix was a bit of gilding the lily. it certainly sounds like goldsworthy's other remix work, though.

moonship journey to baja, Sunday, 19 July 2009 18:06 (sixteen years ago)

new still going sounds fucking hot

EDB, Wednesday, 22 July 2009 03:28 (sixteen years ago)

never been a huge Reggie Watts booster, but I'm glad to see him doing cool things

DOPEMETER (The Reverend), Wednesday, 22 July 2009 03:52 (sixteen years ago)

I guess I could say I always root for him because I know he's completely capable of making awesome music I will like a lot, he just doesn't very often. But it sounds like he is doing exactly that right now and that makes me happy. :-)

DOPEMETER (The Reverend), Wednesday, 22 July 2009 03:54 (sixteen years ago)

the Juan Maclean remix of Codebreaker's "Follow Me" is a jackin' near-chicago house track. should be up for free dl tomorrow on xlr8r.

gonna be a long hot summer for the MS Word paperclip (the table is the table), Wednesday, 22 July 2009 04:14 (sixteen years ago)

or more accurately, it slowly becomes an acidy, jackin' chicago track, then keeps it up in a very real way.

gonna be a long hot summer for the MS Word paperclip (the table is the table), Wednesday, 22 July 2009 04:22 (sixteen years ago)

ooh, thanks for the heads up

There is some talk over at the DJ History forum that Theo Parrish is remixing some part of 45:33. This is beyond exciting for me.

where does one hear new Coati Mundi? I'm waiting for Kid Creole to get off the zoot suit swing revival circuit and do some hip shit again.

dan selzer, Saturday, 25 July 2009 04:22 (sixteen years ago)

he's been wearing zoot suits for three and a half decades now, wtf

fatedoomer (The Reverend), Saturday, 25 July 2009 08:59 (sixteen years ago)

Coati Mundi single is on eMusic - it's not one of the RONG/DFA splits... it seems to be a split with Stones Throw or something like that.
