not big aeroplane fan so i'll stfu
― winston, Saturday, 27 June 2009 16:54 (sixteen years ago)
that synth noise is XD
i've been wondering if tellier straight ripped it from art of noise's "paranoimia", vv similar
― psychgawsple, Saturday, 27 June 2009 17:27 (sixteen years ago)
it always makes me think of "jump"!
― winston, Saturday, 27 June 2009 17:39 (sixteen years ago)
Was it here or the EA forum where someone said it was actually a sample off Supernature?
Or did I hallucinate that?
― Violent In Design (Masonic Boom), Saturday, 27 June 2009 19:06 (sixteen years ago)
yes, it's here. but I doubt it's not a sample because it sounds different. it's more like they borrowed the melody.
― dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Saturday, 27 June 2009 21:42 (sixteen years ago)
*i doubt it's a sample
― dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Saturday, 27 June 2009 21:43 (sixteen years ago)
the supernature (esque?) synths are in the aeroplane remix, they come in halfway through or so.
i'm talking about the original sebastien tellier tune's synth melody, which may not be a sample from that art of noise song but is reallllllllly dang similar
― psychgawsple, Sunday, 28 June 2009 06:46 (sixteen years ago)
I was really bored by the synths in the original. That was one of the things that made it so disappointing.
The sort of... frothy sound of the synths in the remix are pretty much one of the biggest reasons I love it so much. They sound almost like breaking waves, that combination of choppy wub, the heavy phase, and then that slight step delay on the ends of the phrases that sounds like musical ... spray. I think that one synth sound is my favourite synth sound of the whole summer.
Unless the Black Meteoric Star album comes up from behind and usurps is, which it might well do.
― Violent In Design (Masonic Boom), Sunday, 28 June 2009 06:54 (sixteen years ago)
i appreciate all synths mentioned here without prejudice, don't really understand all this hate towards the original tbh. it's easily my favorite song on the record, those synths add so much to the sleaze- and are still all over the aeroplane remix
― psychgawsple, Sunday, 28 June 2009 07:12 (sixteen years ago)
but YES re: black meteoric star
― psychgawsple, Sunday, 28 June 2009 07:16 (sixteen years ago)
Maybe I find Tellier's "sleaze" just kinda creepy and a bit gross instead of cute or funny?
But I fully admit, that could be because I was so turned off by the video. I have not heard the song in the context of the album.
― Violent In Design (Masonic Boom), Sunday, 28 June 2009 07:17 (sixteen years ago)
OK, I'm listening to it now without the picture.
1) it's quite slower than the Aeroplane remix2) no WUB or step delay on that synth sound - without which it just sounds kinda cheesy. It's the frothy delay that really makes that synth sound for me - the original is too stabby and dull.3) the lyrics are much clearer on the original, and you can hear what he's actually saying - on the remix, they're smeared out by the delay so it sounds like he's singing "right under the tongue" (I thought it was a coded reference to cunilingus, ha ha)
― Violent In Design (Masonic Boom), Sunday, 28 June 2009 07:25 (sixteen years ago)
it sounds like 'right over the top' & the lyrics always kinda implied cross-dressing
but i dont think thats what he intended
also yeah those synths are not cheesy theyre dope
― zzz (deej), Sunday, 28 June 2009 10:23 (sixteen years ago)
the remix of kilometer sucks....way to remove the space from a great record
― Local Garda, Sunday, 28 June 2009 14:46 (sixteen years ago)
also just watching the video...sebastian tellier is basically the greatest human being of all time
― Local Garda, Sunday, 28 June 2009 14:47 (sixteen years ago)
somebody change the topic, please..
― dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Sunday, 28 June 2009 14:58 (sixteen years ago)
rude
― Local Garda, Sunday, 28 June 2009 15:06 (sixteen years ago)
no. it's just that this discussion about kilometer is no longer informative. it's only "i like it" and "i don't".
― dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Sunday, 28 June 2009 15:22 (sixteen years ago)
right thanks for raising the bar

Goshdarnit, this has me excited!
Practically vibrating at the thought of seeing them twice next weekend.
― Your Mother Smells Of Elderflower (Masonic Boom), Tuesday, 28 July 2009 11:27 (sixteen years ago)
Every time that Siriusmo track comes on, I think it's gonna be Stereolab and I KEEP getting caught out by that.
Maybe I shall just mash them in my head into some wonderconcept of Steriuslabsmo which would, erm, be the best thing in the history of the world forever.
― Your Mother Smells Of Elderflower (Masonic Boom), Tuesday, 28 July 2009 11:53 (sixteen years ago)
My god, that Freeland remix <3 - right at the intersection of 2003-era French house and nu-Balearic.

they were sooooooooooooooooo lovely at Field Day.
I think they stole the show, honestly. (though Erol Alkan out-discoed them at the afterparty)

<3 that drawing & the way the aeroplane looks like christ
― lex pretend, Sunday, 2 August 2009 22:28 (sixteen years ago)
this mix is like nurave meets trance meets disco meets house? i guess that's kind of the vibe they have been going for lately.
― space cowboy (san frandisco), Tuesday, 4 August 2009 20:55 (sixteen years ago)
Don't suppose anyone would want to re-up that mix on a different share site? I get into this endless loop thing with zshare where it makes me keep going back to the countdown page. probably a cookie thing. and it's expired now. :(
― Highly trained BBQ chef (rockapads), Tuesday, 4 August 2009 21:05 (sixteen years ago)
do you just forget after the countdown because if you wait too long it resets, I always do this
― ❊❁❄❆❇❃✴❈plaxico❈✴❃❇❆❄❁❊ (I know, right?), Tuesday, 4 August 2009 21:38 (sixteen years ago)
I've done that before, too, but this is different. Probably either cookie or noscript related. I dont know why everyone doesn't use mediafire. gotta be the best out of all of them.
― Highly trained BBQ chef (rockapads), Tuesday, 4 August 2009 21:49 (sixteen years ago)
i will definitely agree with you on that one.

100mb limit on MF. skipscreen helps with zshare and the others if you use Firefox
