the only thing i really rate on 5 is "doscientos". "tree and two chairs" and "toluca stars" are like almost there but not quite?

I think mine is 3 > 5 > 2 > 1 > 4, but outside of 3 being the best I'm pretty flexible on the rest

4 is only at the bottom because I don't like "Altitude Dub" much. though it's grown on me

btw I think I'm done with my ballot. two of my top three are from the last 5 years

I think I’m leaning towards “the final version of all the weekly tracks except the original STAR and adding the box set version of Brilliant” + “all the Necks tracks in full length versions” + “all the new bangers from the box set” + “all the new chill ambient groovers from the box set” as four bundles

My sister got me Doot-Doot a while back and I'd been neglecting it due to unfavorable memories of Underneath the Radar, but turns out I like it very much.

As an album, sure. As a listener, it’s only yourself you’re depriving.

Fairly happy with my albums poll but have 99 tracks on my shortlist to cut down to 77 and then somehow put them in order.

Have them all in a spreadsheet and quickly went through giving them approximate placings (Top 5, 10, 20, 30 etc) and currently have 37 tracks in my top 20.

Sent in a ballot. Limited myself to 50 tracks

ok... how are people handling Riverrun when it comes to tracks? If I'm gonna think of them as 3 long tracks, they'll have to go real high... but if I split them up, there's not going to be much of them on there. Juanita/Kiteless/To Dream of Love is my #1 track... so you see the bind I'm in.

not sure what that is, Riverrun is three EPs that each were never released as split tracks - Lovely Broken Thing, Pizza for Eggs, and I'm A Big Sister...

I gave the Riverrun tracks a once-through. Interesting, but would probably require more listens before I can get a handle on them. They seem pretty easy to split up though, unlike Juanita/Kiteless/To Dream of Love or Banstyle/Sappys Curry, which I still don't know where they split up

Anyone feeling like we need an extra week, or three months or w/e, for listening?

I voted, ended up with 39 tracks. Would be nice to have 40 but there was a dropoff after #39 so it seemed a good place to cut it. I'm sure there's something awesome among the Drift tracks I haven't heard yet, but my brain is starting to melt all this new music together. Anyway, I've already found more amazing music in this poll than in any other artist poll I've voted in by far - a good quarter of my ballot is music that was new to me

“Even in 1970 when I started to make it, I used to go to Musicland in Berwick
Street and work on a Saturday for nothing,” he tells me during a misty-eyed
anecdote about a long defunct shop in London’s Soho.

“I was fascinated by what people would buy and I just loved it. It was the job
I might have done.”

He remembers shifting a few copies of bedsit troubadour Cohen’s latest and
something by jazzy prog rockers Soft Machine.

I can’t help wondering if he turned customers on to his self-titled second
album with breakthrough hit Your Song or, later that same year, the
follow-up, Tumbleweed Connection.

All these years later in 2016, I’m happy to report 68-year-old Elton is
thrilled by the vinyl revival. He says: “Unless I’m in a car, I only play
records on vinyl. I sold my record collection in 1991 but now I’m collecting
again.

“I have a record player in Woodside (his Windsor estate) and one in Vegas when
I play there. There’s a place in Vegas called Wax Trax Records, owned by
this guy Rich Rosen and his wife Sunny.

“It’s one of the best old record stores, just vinyl, and has everything you
want. I spent three hours there the other Sunday and came out covered in
dust.

“I’ve never lost the excitement of seeing something I haven’t got or something
repackaged like Underworld’s Second Toughest in the Infants, one of my
favourite albums.

“Now I’m collecting Pet Shop Boys on vinyl, not easy because a lot of it is
from the Eighties and Nineties. Their artwork is always the best

“I love the ritual. Turning the record over mid-way and looking at the sleeve
notes to find so much information.”

bless him. once in Sydney he heard a track by a friend's brother's band on community radio in the car, had his driver take the limo to a record store and bought their album, went back the next day and bought every copy in the shop and sent them to friends around the world.

it's very good but you'll be figuring out which spot in the bottom half of your ballot it takes, not adding any tracks to your top ten

and out of interest, what's the points system going to be?

basically 77 points at the top, weighting possibly tweaked if a piece has a weird spread of votes for versions

the latest in obscure alternate versions of tracks is it turns out the versions of "tin there" in the wipeout soundtrack album is different to the one that was actually in the game (the soundtrack version is a minute shorter) lol

The trio adopted new methods of working. They would record a track, let Emerson road-test it with the Milk Bar crowd, and then revise it until it reached its optimum. This could be confusing. When the three were out clubbing one night Hyde heard an amazing house track with a searing guitar riff, an utterly new sound. This is it, he told Smith, this is what we should be doing. “Karl,” his friend replied, “This is us.” (The track was Dirty Guitar, which appears on the Dubnobass reissue).
