What's the story of Freur's "Alabaster White Thing," which stands out like a sore thumb in the middle of the Underworld 1980s mix above?

It's from a CD of unreleased demos all I can find out about it is from an Underworld forum -

Apparantly Alabaster is just some experimental track they were
playing around with (!) and they supposedly recorded the phone bits
late at night / early morning where they phoned up one of their
management people and kept quiet ... just kept taping ... so if you
get a phone call in the middle of the night but its quiet on the
other end ... be polite!

Rick & Karl made a tape of the Transmutations / Underworld film score for a huge Freur fan, and filled out the end with some unreleased demos. In 2003, he digitised the cassette and put it on the RTSR tracker.

forgot how good "another silent way / drift poem / better than diamonds" is but it also really misses the piano from the original "another silent way"... not sure which to vote for

Appleshine Continuum was my #1 vote in the 2019 poll so it'll be placing pretty high on my ballot but still not sure it'll crack my top 10

This band has a ridiculous number of amazing songs

I think 15 Drift tracks might make my top 77, including "Molehill" which last I checked everyone hated

"molehill" is beautiful and also maybe their most out-of-character track ever

like, that may be their most simultaneously tense and gorgeous track

the synths are kinda like stars winking through all the space in the track

Playing things on desktop has revealed that itunes has been helpfully updated at some point to just not bother playing the last two minutes of long songs, which is really really helpful and fun when you're trying to listen to different versions of long songs to figure out which ones you like best. As well as just a practical feature that makes any sense at all under any circumstances!

(used to have an ipod until it died a few months ago. don't keep music in itunes at all, but all my non-album Underworld is extensively organised by ID3 tags, so tweaking those tags and navigating from compilation to compilation during this fortnight has seen me dump that stuff into the program I otherwise use to transfer podcasts & DJ mixes onto a portable device for one-time listening.)

Just remembered "8 Ball" and now my top 10 has 40 different tracks on it
