no idea why the version of "parc" they released is only 3 minutes though, the full-length live versions are much better

checking out a couple of the OWB tour show releases and... oh man these are great. I was too spoiled from collecting shows when EE came out. The "problem" with it is that it's a 1 disc compilation and any quality full show is more fun. If I wasn't such a dork I'd probably be rating it super high too.

yeah I'm gonna be listening to those over the next few weeks. I think I got 2 of them but since the tracklistings all looked pretty similar I never got the rest. kind of a shame they haven't released more live stuff. iirc their live show got a little stale around the Barking era but I did hear a post-Barbara crowd recording and it sounded great, all the improv and jamming and cool segues were back

I caught the stream and didn't pay attention to other shows around the time... I wonder if there were more like that. Most shows around Barking/Barbara/Drift have been straight-ahead studio versions of the songs, from what I've heard.

of the 37 songs i have definitively decided i am putting on my ballot or not yet, there are 26 "yes" and 11 "no" so this is gonna get rough when i get thru like uhh 200 songs or whatever

also i know i heard jumbo first and i know jumbo came out first but now jumbo makes me think of mass effect which is a nice little association to have

i also feel like people don't talk about "boy, boy, boy" that often but it's really great. its approach sorta feels related to "trim" but way better. whole lot of cool moving parts and synth drones in it

yeah, Karl for whatever reason doesn't like to jam anymore, so their shows are standard festival setlists, with the same arrangement of the songs, and a big song title projected on the screen behind him.

They did one "underworld all night" event at Alexandra Palace in March 2017 with Rick playing solo from the mixing desk for an hour and a half to open, while Karl and Tomato art was projected around the room, and stilt walkers and carnival dancers moved through the crowd. (Review/interview from page 52 in this PDF.)

The Rijksmuseum show six months later was another special one-off - apart from that they've been playing standard setlists and versions for ten years.

There's a bunch of stuff on the STITI super deluxe that isn't in the eligibility list (almost all of disc 3). I have no idea where those tracks come from or whether they qualify or why they don't, but "D+B Thing" and a couple others are cool and I may vote for some if I can

Overall, STITI super deluxe is not as strong as dubnobass super deluxe, but there's still some gems and it was cool to finally hear the original "Born Slippy"

Yeah, the Dubno SD is better than the STITI SD which is better than the BF SD.

The BF one is slightly underwhelming as apart from Disc 2, the only extra material is all the remixes by other artists (although some of those are essential like the Salt City Orchestra and Jedi Knight ones - plus I'm also quite partial to the Dave Clarke and Fatboy Slim KOS remixes)
