Was this on the UK version of the album? I thought it was a non-LP single.

It's on the consolidated CD version, which I'm using in those cases because otherwise my head hurts.

spotify has it on the expanded experienced, and i'm pretty sure my cd version has it too (plus songs like 51st anniversary, highway chile, and red house)

I left “Stone Free” off my ballot for reasons I can neither remember nor justify.

It's first LP appearance was on Smash Hits, according to wiki.

stone free live versions usually outstrip the studio version imo, but i still felt ok leaving it off.

I wish they’d release the full, unedited take of “Rainy Day Dream Away/Still Rainin’ Still Dreamin’.” It’s so lame how it’s just separated into two songs.

'Stone Free' is so good. Gavin, Leeds otm about the verse sound.

the bends in the highway chile open/chorus feel seminal. 'Love Or Confusion' was a late cut on my ballot, which i regret listening to it now. opens with a pinky volume swell, percussive pickup switching, treble jangle, and then sustained feedback. the kind of shit that blows a kid's mind.

should read 'which i regret, listening to it now.' i will never regret listening to 'Love or Confusion'.

I voted for "Stone Free," but I specifically voted for the version on Disc 4 of the Songs for Groovy Children box, which also appears on the Live at the Fillmore East 2CD set from the early 2000s.

I've made notes in the entries for any different recording of a song that made the rollout. I had wanted to include links for those, but it looks like the estate has pretty tight reins on official releases on YouTube.

"Highway Chile" made my ballot, mostly for the catchy riff. One of the handful of AYE songs that wasn't actually on the Smash Hits comp I listened to as a kid.

XP Lolz. In collecting YTs for this I've already dodged like three or four different Mayer live covers of posted songs so far.

"Who Knows" was my #1. impeccable groove. hit that fucking snare and get us going, Buddy. we're lookin for a our sally. four face melting and groovin solos on BoG. i'm talkin bout my baby. this song fucking rips. oh yeah and buddy scats for 2 whole minutes near the middle. i don't care too much for that, but a few 'arit dit dit dit dooos' cannot ruin the party. i'm even kind of enjoying them at that point in the album.

trying to decide what fucks up who knows more, buddy or the sax solo popping into prince's version

probably buddy. once the horns get into the groove it starts sounding like "willie the pimp" but there are worse things to sound like.

track is unfuckupable imo. crosstown traffic will beat it, and there's a kazoo guitar in there. Is buddy really more annoying than a kazoo guitar?

Hey Baby was my #7. I love how the verses build to the chorus each time.

I cut House Burning Down at the last minute and fear that was a mistake.

The stabbing guitar in the chorus reminds me of a siren and just amps up the anxiety.

Freedom was on my ballot early and maybe should have stayed. One of his most overtly political songs. Chorus seems to demand freedom from the racism/drug use etc. of the verses. Don't see a Republican connection.

xp yeah, i don't think jimi's intention is republican at all, though i'm sure it's been distorted and used that way. i regret posting the thought here now. but i do think about it every time i hear the song, and it contributes to why i don't enjoy it very much.

come on pt. 1 snuck into the 20th space on my ballot. it was duking it out with red house for the honor of being my favorite straightahead blues solo that jimi put to tape. it's all about that moment halfway through the solo where it shifts up in key and kicks into hyperdrive.
