i envy the sense of satisfaction that must've come with thinking up that response.

Anyway, the first few songs feel like a bit of a re-tread of Värähtelijä, though I do appreciate the increased prominence of synths.

First Oranssi album that 100% resonates w/ me, and how! Mind-bending stuff.

Okay, I love this album. It seems noisier and denser than Värähtelijä; fewer slow-building trances, more of an apocalyptic industrial sci-fi vibe.

Some of it is die krupps-ish a definite 90s industrial vibe from it. Dont think its as great as the previous two albums

It has done away with some of the slow-burning epics, but the counterpoint is that it is now just wall-to-wall bangers. There really is not a wasted second either

am i crazy or are the harsh vocals on this some of the harshest they've done? like the first track just sounds demented.

Okay, I absolutely love this. Way more industrial, esp in the second half, and intense than I expected, but it works. I also hear a ton of Circle influence, especially in "Taivaan portti" with all of that repetition.

re: the industrial n' electronic bits. yeah, they're very much pushed upfront. after this streaming though, i can't unlisten to some kind of Olof Dreijer/Oni-ish influence. more subtle, but crucial

I'm discovering the record as I type, finding it really good, I like the spectrum of sound and the hypnotic quality, the way the synths and chimes sound as the rest is buried, creating this orchestral atmosphere.
Not a big fan of his growls but that's alright.

In this year of no shows I’m so glad I made the last-minute decision to see them with Insect Ark last year, I had never even listened to either band before and it was exhilarating.

weird, i want to like this and i can hear great stuff in there but - is it just me or is the mixing terrible? I keep turning up the volume to hear things better but it always sounds super muddy, as if it's playing from under a thick blanket (not in a good way)

It does sound a little muddy to me too, which is a shame because I otherwise really love the direction they took on this one.

I got into Oranssi around the same time I first heard Pinkish Black, in 2014 I think... I had associated the two at the time, but not much later on. This one almost takes me back to that. The super distorted bass and drums which maybe give it that muddy sound you're hearing. I recently bought some nice studio monitors and the album sounds pretty great on them.

I don't have too many touchstones in industrial black metal, but I generally like the mad claustrophobic atmosphere here. It sounds a bit like Arcturus or Ihsahn. I like how they alternate nervous angst, sense of interstellar doom, contemplation of the void. Fine trip down some glimmering abyss.
