I created a Spotify playlist of all the 2015 live sets and have had it on shuffle for most of the day. It might be the perfect post-COVID music, because I really can't think of any reason to leave home and stand in a pitch black room with other people to hear this stuff.

Just catching up to the news now... TWO new albums? Curious what will differentiate them to be separate in a stylistic sense rather than one epic compendium a la NTS. And to confirm, seven onesix project that's imminently dropping is a set of recorded jams?

Knowing this is all coming soon gives me some latent strength to handle the inevitable drudgery and economic challenges that will ensue this summer

OneSix was the name of the last tour, so it'll be live recordings of that. I lost my downloaded audience recordings of that tour so I'm warming up my wallet.

Lotta good shit, Sean's done swathes of metal, reggae, Detroit, abstract ... last night he went through a folder of working Ae jams and played a few seconds of each. Quite a few recognisable, many quite dull, the very coolest ones cut off almost immediately (presumably wants to keep them for future releases!).

Just listened to Helsinki. As I recall from when I saw them in London it's a very different mood from the 14/15 sets. Low energy, slow to develop, hard to love, except for a couple of short sections around 35 & 45 mins. Will try Melbourne now.

lovely downtempo ambient beat jam that has the synths at the end of maphive6.1 with some funky slow percussion and processed sounds reminiscent of a bit of the NTS sessions. really good

it's generative - been going for more than a week now. Someone at watmm pasted this bit of explanatory chat from Sean:

Broadcaster4utechre: r g b are 3 diff channels so i use all 3 but i put red stuff lower, green around the mid and blue for the cooler feeling higher stuff, idk i did it by taste

Broadcaster4utechre: each full frame is one cycle

Broadcaster4utechre: but as the oscillators are going at different rates sometimes the data in the wavetable changes before a cycle is complete

Broadcaster4utechre: it interpolates pretty well though

seems like the opposite of what i would have done (i.e. blue/cool/low freq, red/hot/high freq).

Looking at the visuals now I think the relationship might be a bit different - that discussion was from a couple of days ago I think

thanks for the link - I tried to install two different Twitch apps on the smart telly just for this to no avail, but have had it burbling in the background on laptop speakers for three hours now

saying the music reflects the picture prompts the question about who wrote the graphical bits.

Graphics really remind me of those plug-ins w/ visualizers that you could get for winamp et al circa... '99? '00? Except with those they (claimed to) move to the beat, whereas here that's well, not that easy :)
