it's funny i was just playing a copy of wizardtruestar the other day and i couldn't get over how good it sounded. wasn't the gimmix cover with the funny shape either. just a nice pressing, i guess. HOT STAMPER!!

it sounded so good that i priced it at FIVE dollars instead of four.

yeaa you lucked out! those first pressings wear out fast, it's tough to find one that isn't shit. they didn't know what to do with 56 minutes of wild badass cosmic pop back then, i guess. i almost picked up a recent reissue (used) which didn't have the die-cut cover, but i passed. there's no reasonable way at all to split it into 4 sides, that's how the chips fall i guess. would give an arm + leg to snag a 7" of "sometimes i don't know what to feel" or "just one victory" (i don't know if these 7"s exist, but he had to have put something out as a single, right?). ok now i will definitely pick up a square copy if i see one

I got both of those Yello records for $12-15, so yeah 30 is pretty far over. Both are single LPs.

just snagged the Left Banke's debut LP on eBay for $15 shipped!

also Scott, do you have any copies of Two Sides to Every Story? my newfound Gene Clark obsession refuses to relent.

i don't. i have my own copy, but not one for sale. i have kindling by gene parsons for five bucks though! actually, i just looked and the only gene clark i have for sale is the 4 men with beards reissue of white light. i bought that cuz i thought it would sound better than my original, but it has a two or three second pressing glitch noise during one song and i can't live with that! i think i'm gonna sell my dutch-only pressing of roadmaster too cuz while it looks pristine it's a little too scratchily for my tastes. but i'm a freak. i'm sure someone else wouldn't mind much. i'll probably sell it for 10 or 15. still goes for 30 or 40 usually.

i don't really feel like going out tonight, but there is stuff around. should i go see a misfits cover band at the brewpub or go see horse spirit penetrates or go see fat worm of error at the magazine party? dude who is playing at the horse spirit show came in the store and tipped me off about some cool new jersey labels i should hit up for my noise column. he is in the band Human Adult Band. i bought his new vinyl single off of him. one side is his band and the other side is jad fair. on third uncle records.

so i put four michael jackson records up on ebay and made 75 bucks. i had them priced at five bucks apiece in the store. i would have sold six records and made even more but a friend of a friend called me up at the last minute and begged me for a copy of thriller and off the wall so i sold them to her for ten bucks total. cuz i'm nice like that.

AIGHT, won an auction for Two Sides - I ended up catching feelings and overspending a little bit in the name of GRAAAAH MY RECORD MYYYYYNE, but I'm rationalizing buyer's remorse away since (a) the price I ended up paying was more or less market value so it's not like I was getting ripped off or anything and (b) I figured I had a little extra spending capital since I absolutely robbed someone over that Left Banke LP.

can't say i'm a fan, but only cuz i've never heard him that much. looked kinda neat. u.s. ampex pressing.

i am something of an ampex completist as well.

i browsed in three different places that had records yesterday and i couldn't find ANYTHING that i wanted. granted, one was a huge comix/anime/game store with a big used vinyl section and one was a depressing cd store with a fairly large used vinyl section. but one was an honest to gosh record store. i'm not THAT hard to please. so sad.

I went to a record store Saturday and was annoyed with the prices. The two stores I've been to here in Orlando (Park Ave and Rock n Roll Heaven) are too expensive. Everything was $10 this, $15 that, $20 this, $30 that. I saw a record I gave away - for good reason - selling for $20.

Eventually I settled on an Elliott Carter Nonesuch thing for $3 and Ricky Nelson's self-titled for $4 (or prices vice versa).

the cd store i wwas in was such a desolate pit. they actually had chain link fence inside the store and i definitely felt trapped. just a huge airless room devoid of any human touch. they might as well have been selling dollar socks and canadian pasta sauce. so sad. 95% of their vinyl should have been a dollar. trashed stevie wonder dollar records priced at $9.95. blahhhhhhh.....

i mean, i'm happy to just find ONE decent record. just one. i'll even overpay for it if it's something i actually want.

i had no idea i would be selling so many tapes. i mean, not, like, crazy amounts, but i sell about 20 a week. which is around 19 more than i thought i'd be selling every week. then again, i'm probably the only record store in the county that sells them. and it's hard to find cool tapes at thrift stores.
