Alicia Keys and Jack White, together at last! they go down like...thumbtacks and motor oil
― bold caucasian eroticism (Simon H.), Friday, 14 February 2020 00:25 (six years ago)
I just relistened to "You Know My Name" and brad is otm. Though the theme songs mostly being joyless slogs suits the Craig era pretty well
― bold caucasian eroticism (Simon H.), Friday, 14 February 2020 00:30 (six years ago)
The last 3 (Adele, Sam Smith and this) have all been very similar haven't they? I've liked them all. I would still have liked Lana to have had a crack at it but hey.
I dig this...

― piscesx, Friday, 14 February 2020 00:51 (six years ago)
Lana admittedly would have done little to break the joylessness streak
― bold caucasian eroticism (Simon H.), Friday, 14 February 2020 00:52 (six years ago)
this is really good but I also like both bond music and billie eilish more than most people
― like, I’m eating an elephant head (katherine), Friday, 14 February 2020 04:20 (six years ago)
lana is a/the perfect pick for bond, esp in 2020
― Nude Law (rip van wanko), Friday, 14 February 2020 04:28 (six years ago)
Lana del Rey supposedly wrote “24” as an audition song for Spectre.
― ✖✖✖ (Moka), Friday, 14 February 2020 07:16 (six years ago)
Considering what came before it this is a very competent song for a Bond intro but it’s the sort of orchestral somber ballad that’s been done way too many times in the franchise. I thought Billie Eilish would be a perfect fit to revitalize what a Bond theme could be but this is way too safe. Feels like a lesser Skyfall tbh.
― ✖✖✖ (Moka), Friday, 14 February 2020 07:30 (six years ago)
"competent" is the exact word I came here to use.
― ☮️ (peace, man), Friday, 14 February 2020 12:16 (six years ago)
this is okay

First 80sec or so is great. The rest could be anyone, really.
― Michael Jones, Friday, 14 February 2020 14:36 (six years ago)
Incidentally, Sam Smith announced the upcoming release of his new album this week. Titled To Die For.
― willem, Friday, 14 February 2020 14:50 (six years ago)
"fine" seems about right, "forgettable" is also accurate
― Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Friday, 14 February 2020 14:53 (six years ago)
the recently released title track to that forthcoming sam smith album is much better than this xp
why do these bond things always have to be so annoyingly arranged
― dyl, Saturday, 15 February 2020 04:07 (six years ago)
i love this so much
― terminators of endearment (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 15 February 2020 16:15 (six years ago)
this is the first bond theme I've listened to more than once since A View to a Kill so it must be good
― akm, Saturday, 15 February 2020 16:53 (six years ago)

damn this is great! she's developing as a singer I think? in a on appealing way? struck me as less mumbly
― the quar on drugs (Simon H.), Friday, 31 July 2020 01:32 (five years ago)
It is. What a great song. She sings it so well but, boy, would I ever love to hear Amy Winehouse sing that song!
― Gerneten-flüken cake (jed_), Friday, 31 July 2020 01:36 (five years ago)
I really enjoyed that. It reminded me of the xx somewhat except it's actually good.
― pomenitul, Friday, 31 July 2020 01:46 (five years ago)
rather than amazing, like the XX?
― Gerneten-flüken cake (jed_), Friday, 31 July 2020 01:49 (five years ago)
If you say so (I thought the s/t was ok btw, everything after that can perish in a fire).
― pomenitul, Friday, 31 July 2020 01:51 (five years ago)
It sounds nothing like the XX who are great and got better after the s/t. So there.
― Gerneten-flüken cake (jed_), Friday, 31 July 2020 01:54 (five years ago)
I actually do think she and Romy have a certain vocal similarity, though Eilish is a lot more demonstrative esp now
― the quar on drugs (Simon H.), Friday, 31 July 2020 02:04 (five years ago)
also "I'm in love with my future" is a cool lyric/sentiment
― the quar on drugs (Simon H.), Friday, 31 July 2020 02:08 (five years ago)
try singing that in six months.
j/k, I like the song.

― corrs unplugged, Friday, 31 July 2020 06:40 (five years ago)
This is very good and so smooth !Perfect for a cocktail by the swimming pool as the sun sets...
― AlXTC from Paris, Friday, 31 July 2020 08:20 (five years ago)
The long vocal intro before the groove kicks in reminds me of Donna Summer in spirit.Actually the track is so short it begs for an extended club remix.
― AlXTC from Paris, Friday, 31 July 2020 09:06 (five years ago)
beautiful song, agreed that she's taken major steps as a singer, even since 'everything i wanted'
― mozzy star (voodoo chili), Friday, 31 July 2020 14:14 (five years ago)
I don’t really hear the XX? Maybe Zero7 or some other chillout/downtempo act from the early 00s.
― ✖✖✖ (Moka), Friday, 31 July 2020 14:37 (five years ago)
I thought of the xx because of the barely-there instrumental substratum in the first half and her voice's mild R&B inflections. I can hear echoes of Zero 7 as well, maybe even a bit of Radiohead.
― pomenitul, Friday, 31 July 2020 14:43 (five years ago)
Yeah I got strong turn of the millennium trip-hop/downtempo vibes from this. Like Esthero.
― MarkoP, Friday, 31 July 2020 15:04 (five years ago)
half of esthero is responsible for the weeknd so that's not surprising

Her voice sounds terrific (and I’m listening thru an iPhone speaker). Don’t know how I feel about the song, but what a performance.

― dyl, Saturday, 1 August 2020 05:42 (five years ago)
The esthero comparison is otm. I couldn’t quite place what it reminded me of but that’s it... I don’t hear that much difference between say “that girl” and this.
