Bat For Lashes put out her strongest album in 2019. Didn't expect top 5 but surely she doesn't miss out altogether, still enough love for her round here? Daniel won a tracks poll iirc

For an album that seems so straightforward and easy to get in its charms, I feel like the emotional heft of resonant bodies increases by a surprising extent with an understanding of its context.

her best record front to back, a constant companion through a really rough year, "automatically in love" my favorite crj song of all time at this point

I quite liked this. It's CRJ, it's always at least a bit good

octo octa is not for me i do not want to move my body to those sounds

overall underwhelming as an emotion follow-up despite some pretty high highs, i didn't end up spending much time with it this year

Yay for Octo Octa! To me that album harkens back to my favourite era of electronic club music in the early '90s, when it hadn't yet solidified into tightly policed genres, and you could have rave breaks, house pianos, and trance synths on the same record. Yet it doesn't feel boringly nostalgic either, maybe because of the deep emotional resonance she brings into it that transcends cheap retroism.

Not a quality issue for me, but dedicated did kinda generally feel like it ought to have come out in between kiss and emotion
