maffew12, Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:09 (six years ago)

How did none of her tracks place in the tracks poll???!

octobeard, Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:09 (six years ago)

I knew it! The best Tinashe album and a well deserved placement.

kitchen person, Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:10 (six years ago)

xp textbook splitting

maffew12, Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:10 (six years ago)

nxd, Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:12 (six years ago)

this Tinashe album is much better than I expected it to be

totally unnecessary bewbz of exploitation (DJP), Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:13 (six years ago)

I voted for this! I never doubted it would place high.

bold caucasian eroticism (Simon H.), Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:14 (six years ago)

I can't say it's her best but it exposed new facets of her imagination -- and her ability with collaborators -- in a way I wouldn't have thought possible in 2014.

TikTok to the (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:14 (six years ago)

It's crazy how good this is considering I can barely remember anything about Joyride.

kitchen person, Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:16 (six years ago)

Tinashe a few places outside my Top 25 but a very good album and happy it placed so high. HOWEVER, it placing means I have now officially given up on my #1 :(

It's crazy how good this is considering I can barely remember anything about Joyride.
I think Nightride rather than Joyride was the indicator she still had a killer record in her.

Jeff W, Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:18 (six years ago)

not sure how if I'm expressing this right, but I thought U.F.O.F. was really magical and I didn't want to dilute the experience of it by paying too much attention to Two Hands

Indexed, Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:24 (six years ago)

so far, the tracks top 10 is far more my bag than the albums. how things change eh

TOO LOW, the Curator (imago), Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:25 (six years ago)

Ooh pretty late to all of this but great rollout so far. Tons of stuff I missed this year like this rad Men I Trust album.

CALIGULA was my #1. Stoked 9 others voted for it too. It's an intense experience. If you get a chance to see her live, please do yourself a favor and go.

gman59, Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:26 (six years ago)

Not a fan of this style of music but can def see why ppl would love this album.

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:26 (six years ago)

I think I saw someone on here say earlier in the year that preferring Thank U, Next to Sweetener was like preferring Amnesiac to Kid A, and yes I do to both thank you very much

Indexed, Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:28 (six years ago)

so much of the music and production feels tepid and boring and there's not enough going on in the songs really keep my attention.

This is just really weird to me because the production is really really interesting to me and has all kind of cool details and transpositions between various acoustic environments

I should not read this thread

brimstead, Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:28 (six years ago)

I meant to vote for Lingua Ignota but I missed it on the nomination list

totally unnecessary bewbz of exploitation (DJP), Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:29 (six years ago)

re: Tinashe, "Know Better" is still incredible.

gman59, Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:29 (six years ago)

found myself thinking "Die a Little Bit" is p dope then realizing oh yeah it's cause it has the least amount of pop rnb vocals on it

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:30 (six years ago)

So, who's missed out on Top 5 immortality?

TOO LOW, the Curator (imago), Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:30 (six years ago)

me

ciderpress, Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:32 (six years ago)

I would have put Caligula in my top 5. At least it placed! What an incredible record from start to finish.

octobeard, Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:33 (six years ago)

voted pretty high for the tinashe album. totally unexpected i thought she was done

save room for use is song and vid were my favorite https://youtu.be/wtmwVGoxrws

Thybulle on the Dash (Spottie), Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:34 (six years ago)

tinashe!!!!

american bradass (BradNelson), Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:37 (six years ago)

I did not vote at all — would’ve loved to have given Solange and Erika de Casier a boost

winters (josh), Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:39 (six years ago)

So, who's missed out on Top 5 immortality?
Gotta go offline now, but I've put my guess of the order of the Top 6 in a sealed envelope and I'll tell you tomorrow if I was right :)

Jeff W, Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:41 (six years ago)

before ldr places i wanted to say that jack antonoff's best work of the year is on lover

american bradass (BradNelson), Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:42 (six years ago)

you're almost certainly right

TOO LOW, the Curator (imago), Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:42 (six years ago)

american bradass (BradNelson), Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:43 (six years ago)

american bradass (BradNelson), Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:45 (six years ago)

TOO LOW, the Curator (imago), Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:46 (six years ago)

6-1 but i'm pretty sure i'm wrong about most of those placements

american bradass (BradNelson), Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:46 (six years ago)

well i sincerely hope you're right haha

TOO LOW, the Curator (imago), Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:46 (six years ago)

Wow didn't expect the Caretaker to crack the top 6!

Le Bateau Ivre, Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:47 (six years ago)

PUP will win

tangenttangent, Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:47 (six years ago)

unfortunately after spending time with their newest i have come to the conclusion that i love... maybe three pup songs total

american bradass (BradNelson), Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:48 (six years ago)

starting to get worried about my #1

ciderpress, Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:49 (six years ago)

made peace yesterday that my #1 isn't placing and before the poll that my #2 wouldn't either but PUP not placing (my #6) does hurt a little

Mordy, Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:51 (six years ago)

brad i dont think our beloved copeland album is gonna make it

Thybulle on the Dash (Spottie), Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:52 (six years ago)

unfortunately after spending time with their newest i have come to the conclusion that i love... maybe three pup songs total

Seeing them live may change that perspective! Nevertheless, that is fair.

glass beach still a big win for emo itp

tangenttangent, Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:52 (six years ago)

part of the problem is that my roommate has taken to playing "see you at your funeral" on repeat, and i do not like that song

american bradass (BradNelson), Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:54 (six years ago)

If I had remembered to vote for it, African Giant would have been in the top ten. I'll see myself out now.

human and working on getting beer (longneck), Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:54 (six years ago)

PUP not placing (my #6) does hurt a little

It hurt me too. Perhaps I was overly optimistic. V. surprised my #7 likely won't place though! Will reveal what it is when it's clear it definitely won't as there is the outsidest chance

tangenttangent, Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:54 (six years ago)

I voted for CRJ and OO and left the others to fend for themselves.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:56 (six years ago)

What the heck is "PUP"?

Tuomas, Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:56 (six years ago)

Inspired by its placement to put on the These New Puritans album again and remembered that my other reference point for it is Massive Attack’s 100th Window.

Tim F, Thursday, 6 February 2020 20:57 (six years ago)

a canadian punk band xp
