it's really really good!

also, as noted, a lot of it was never available outside of Japan

plus beautiful and intriguing packaging from what I've seen

Wow, I'm surprised as well. Perhaps all those individual tracks were just way better than the album as a whole.

plus beautiful and intriguing packaging from what I've seen

really gorgeous packaging but i had to restrain myself and go for the CD version (and even that's still lovely)

Kankyo is really the convergence of a lot of the last half-decade's underground concerns: ambient records that show up in YouTube algorithms, the LITA/Numero/Leaving reissue reappreciation/reconsidering/resurgence of new age, the uncanny-valley stuff present in deconstructed club/PC Music/tape label noise/0PN/Orange Milk, the Japanophilia of vaporwave/citypop.

A lot of different threads were leading to this point!

okay this Glass Beach thing - love the music but I really don't like this style of pop-punk singing.
I hate to be that guy cos I've vehemently defended 'annoying' singers in the past but I'd totally go for an instrumental version of this record
