The Sacred Paws album doesn't break any new ground from the first one. If you didn't like the first, the new one probably won't change your mind. I do think this new one is a bit stronger though, more lively and energetic.

only the same frontperson xp

This Sacred Paws album doesn't quite have the fizz of the previous one but they're still just... kinda great to have around? Especially when the sun's out.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 4 February 2020 14:12 (six years ago)

Whenever I hear Sacred Paws I can imagine them popping up to perform in the middle of a Young Ones episode.

totally unnecessary bewbz of exploitation (DJP), Tuesday, 4 February 2020 14:30 (six years ago)

Very much looking forward to hearing this, having loved most of his previous albums, just haven't gotten around to it yet. Nine votes is heartening!

Le Bateau Ivre, Tuesday, 4 February 2020 14:30 (six years ago)

Have been listening to this album a LOT lately. Possibly his best?

silverfish, Tuesday, 4 February 2020 14:33 (six years ago)

didn't really get into this one depsite enjoying stott in the past, but i'm happy to believe it's me and not him

ymo sumac (NickB), Tuesday, 4 February 2020 14:37 (six years ago)

I've never not liked his stuff but Luxury Problems this ain't.

toilet-cleaning brain surgeon (pomenitul), Tuesday, 4 February 2020 14:37 (six years ago)

I didn't really get it either, but the only Stott I've truly loved has been Luxury Problems

Frederik B, Tuesday, 4 February 2020 14:38 (six years ago)

the zebra centipede bothers me

ciderpress, Tuesday, 4 February 2020 14:39 (six years ago)

Passed Me By & We Stay Together are pretty classic as well imo.

toilet-cleaning brain surgeon (pomenitul), Tuesday, 4 February 2020 14:39 (six years ago)

Never heard Sacred Paws before, I like this a lot. Also that Caterina Barbieri album upthread is transcendent.

may the force leave us alone (zchyrs), Tuesday, 4 February 2020 14:41 (six years ago)

I think I nominated the Barbieri album then promptly forgot about it. Revisited it yesterday and really enjoyed it.

Mario Meatwagon (Moodles), Tuesday, 4 February 2020 14:42 (six years ago)

didnt know he had a new one! listening now

nxd, Tuesday, 4 February 2020 14:43 (six years ago)

I had never heard of Sacred Paws but discovered "Brush Your Hair" on the tracks nomination spotify playlist and ended up voting for it (thank you to whoever nom'ed!). Haven't gotten around to the album yet but that song felt like something I would have fell in love with via CokeMachineGlow in 2006.

Ha, 2006 was precisely the year I picked out in a post which, rather than putting here, I sent as a private message to the long-suffering tt (xps)

TOO LOW, the Curator (imago), Tuesday, 4 February 2020 14:59 (six years ago)

news of new moodymann completely failed to reach my bunker

ymo sumac (NickB), Tuesday, 4 February 2020 15:00 (six years ago)

Also there's probably a thread for this but Andy Stott has to be among the best at maintaining a consistent album art theme and style across his entire career

I think I might like this Andy Stott better than the ones I've heard in the past. Am I right in thinking this is a bit more smoothed out than previous releases?

Mario Meatwagon (Moodles), Tuesday, 4 February 2020 15:07 (six years ago)

i voted for the moodymann! it's one of his best, especially the complete version which you only get if you buy it on bandcamp :)

So we still like Radiohead?

ciderpress, Tuesday, 4 February 2020 15:15 (six years ago)

Just opened up the rest of the thread to admire the fixed images - Moka you have outdone yourself, these are wonderful (Sacred Paws still doesn't have a Moka-style image atm though)

emil.y, Tuesday, 4 February 2020 15:16 (six years ago)

Just because I'm a shameless Radiohead fanboy doesn't mean I'll stan for Yorke's solo albums, which are beacons of okayness. His soundtrack to Suspiria was a considerably more impressive achievement.

Glad to see Moodymann made it.

toilet-cleaning brain surgeon (pomenitul), Tuesday, 4 February 2020 15:16 (six years ago)

thom yorke placement kind of insulting to moodymann tbh

american bradass (BradNelson), Tuesday, 4 February 2020 15:17 (six years ago)

but that's my favorite thom yorke record since the eraser for sure

american bradass (BradNelson), Tuesday, 4 February 2020 15:17 (six years ago)

poor man's gaz coombes imo

ymo sumac (NickB), Tuesday, 4 February 2020 15:17 (six years ago)

Love the design concept moka.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 4 February 2020 15:18 (six years ago)

Also fixed the Moodymann image link for you ^__^

emil.y, Tuesday, 4 February 2020 15:18 (six years ago)

Just a thought: these album results seem to be fulfilling the hints of "crazy" results we got at the beginning. They've really been all over the map.

Mario Meatwagon (Moodles), Tuesday, 4 February 2020 15:18 (six years ago)

the short film/music video he released to netflix may be more impressive than the record tbh. but i really recommend that thing, it rules

american bradass (BradNelson), Tuesday, 4 February 2020 15:19 (six years ago)

Quite a lot are missing, but wow, those images are looking great! Once again a sincere thanks to everyone involved, doing so much work under time pressure while all of us goes 'worst poll ever!!!!' Thanks!

Also, today is the worst poll day ever so far :(

Frederik B, Tuesday, 4 February 2020 15:19 (six years ago)

well, i should say it rules if you think dance is the greatest artform xp

xxp

please tell me the video is 100% just Thom Yorke dancing

Mario Meatwagon (Moodles), Tuesday, 4 February 2020 15:22 (six years ago)

yup, Radiohead fan here. Just not interested in any lousy IDM-lite moanathons I'm sorry Thom
