Anyways, I'm going to confess unlimited wrongness and throw myself upon the mercy of the pollrunners and humbly request that these two albums which I didn't in fact hear in time but am asking now that they be added to the nominations list this late in the game:

I only ask because I do objectively think these are two of the finest metal albums to be released in the past year. The Wyrmwoods especially is a fine slab of that experimental BM syncretism that we all know & love around here, this time fusing it with Berlin School type synth kosmiche and ambient. Re: Wyrmwoods, this is the next track. I wouldn't say the rest of the album sounds like this but it kind of gives you an idea of where it's going, maybe enough of one to let you know whether or not you want to continue on to the final two, very long tracks

The Obsequiae album is pretty great! And Lord Weird Slough Feg! And give the Candlemass album a chance, I think it's their best in over a decade tbh.

I liked the Esoteric, surprisingly since I usually think the doom metal albums with the organs are goofy. As usual, I don't see the appeal of Obsequiae or Schammasch, despite many others really enjoying them.

It didn't make my ballot, but I'll point out the Ausmuteants "album," a 20 minute group of punk songs sung from the point of view of a cop, but written by crusty anarchists. Absolutely hilarious.
